Here's one you might try. Gargantua and PantagruelGargantua depicts a young giant, reduced to laughable insanity by an education at the hands of paternal ignorance, old crones and syphilitic professors, who is rescued and turned into a cultured Christian knight.
It's in the public domain. You can get a free (illustrated) copy here:

It might be worth reading into Norse mythology, as they feature many Giants in their myths, though they are closer to Deity-like status when compared to English and Celtic myth. Same could be said for Greek/Roman mythos too, if you consider the Titans as Giants. I don't know if I have a specific recommendation of texts on these subjects, as I have read many works throughout the years since childhood pertaining to these kinds of stories. I do remember one good book on the subject, simply calledGiants, it borderline an art book, but it does have some mythos and stories too. Though I do believe it's more on the subject of Celtic and English styled Giants.
Acutally I guess there's also the biblical lore of Giants to. The Nephilim (often referred to as Giants) are mentioned briefly in Genesis, and also the most famous biblical story featuring a Giant; David and Goliath.
If you're interested in science-fiction, I read this really wonky book about a man who gets turned into a giant a few years ago called Enormity
And for a short, but enjoyable read from one fantasy's masters check out The Frost Giant's Daughter by Robert E. Howard found in Conan of Cimmeria (that's them on the cover). It may not add much to their mythos, but the story sure does kick ass.

It's worth finding the story, it's a good one.
Another good one to look for is Odd and the Frost Giants by Neil Gaiman.

Anyone have any suggestions for stories featuring Giants? I know a bit of British mythology but I'm looking for other stories - so mythology or modern would be great.
