ABANDONED. A book about a dog that's a robot and a little girl

As a kid I read a book about a dog (I remember it as a robot dog) and a little girl who found him and helped him. The title of the book was an acronym for what the dog was and was what she called the dog (like S.P.O.T. or something). I can't remember the acronym and robot dog doesn't bring it up in any searches. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Clutz? it has a dog and a robot, but not a robot dog, but since the title is spelled out like acronym I thought I'd mention it.

I read the book as a kid in probably late 80's or early 90's if that helps and I'm sure it was a novel. Definitely not Rolie Polie Olie, but thanks for the suggestion. I'll look up Clutz to see if it looks familiar. Thanks!

I’ll have to see if I can find this book so I can read it... storyline doesn’t sound quite right, but my memory might be a little off. It’s a definite possibility since it has a robot dog and an acronym as the title. Also from the 80’s.
