I probably won't be starting this today, but I'll see how I go.

I'll be starting this tomorrow. Way late, I know, but it shouldn't take me too long.

Finished.

Review: I didn't like this book that much. I had such high hopes for it, what with it being written by Kiera Cass, but I thought it was slightly unbelievable. Kahlen annoyed me quite a lot, and the love was also unbelievable. The way she (view spoiler) And the whole (view spoiler) I kind of thought there was an ulterior motive, but there wasn't. And I feel like I barely got to know Akilni, who was the main guy in the book. Overall, this book was alright.

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53738 comments Mod
No idea if you're even here, so I'll stop monitoring this now.

message 64: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry but I wasn't home at the end of April so I wasn't able to read this :(

I am very curious about this book's mythology; chapter 1 was amazing! However, I'm not liking Kahleen very much. Or Akilni, he's too god.

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53738 comments Mod
At least you're still reading it :)

message 66: by [deleted user] (last edited May 10, 2016 02:54PM) (new)

Yeah, of course. I felt bad for not being able to read it sooner, so sorry about that.

It seems as it will be more focused on the romance than on the mythology, what a surprise.

Am I the only one who thinks Kahlen is very vain? Here's an example from chapter 6: (view spoiler)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53738 comments Mod
That's fine :) I'm always behind on my buddy reads so I know how it is :p

Yeah she's just an annoying character :p So self-absorbed.

And could you please put spoiler alerts around your thoughts that give anything away? Just so other people don't get it spoiled for them.

I agree with everything you said. I feel like the book wasn't developed enough.

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

I've just finished. Sorry if I didn't comment much, but there wasn't much to say.

Characters: (view spoiler)

I think this book would have worked a lot better (for me, of course) if it were a spin-off or we already knew the characters and the mythology behind the book. (view spoiler)

I'll read spoilers later. But yeah I agree this book was such a let down. Glad I'm not obsessed with the author. Haven't even finished the selection series yet.

I have read the first Selection books and I actually enjoyed them a lot. But for a distopian series, (view spoiler)

What series is that spoiler referring to? I don't wanna read it if it's spoilers for The Selection.

Yeah, I'm glad that's not a series - there's now no obligation to read the rest :p

Exactly, because knowing me I would have continued, just in case :P

About the spoiler, it's about the Selection, yes, but I don't mention anything especific. If you've read the first one, you can read it, because it's something mentioned in the sinopsis.

You don't have to make a new one. You just reset it :) You usually only make a new one if there isn't one. If you're not sure you can just ask one of the Mods.
