Hey Scrounger, I mean Jessica!!! Welcome to PBT. We are so happy to have new members, and your interests will definitely expose us to some new arenas . . .I just finished a book called Just Kids and the author, Patti Smith, was a poet/musician. My favorite poet is Billy Collins. I keep saying I should try to read more poetry because I do enjoy it when I make the effort. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on poetry to explore.

Jennifer Pope (jenjunum) | 902 comments Haha, other Jennifer P./Jen P....I think when I post it just says Jennifer??? My middle name is Nicole. I'm Natalie's teammate on the Olympics challenge. I will figure out how to update my profile name to Jennifer P. I go by Jen/Jennifer/Jenny with different people. My last name is also pretty common and my email address is just my first and last name so I'm constantly getting confused for other people.

I was literally too lazy to figure this out. But now I'm Jennifer P. Which hopefully will be less confusing but maybe not.

message 362: by Ashley Breanna (new)

Ashley Breanna (ashleybreanna13) | 92 comments Hello everyone. I'm Ashley & I'm new to your group. I wanted to belong to a group of people who love to read, but don't pressure you to do it. I found yours & am giving it a go. The hole "monthly themes" thing seems very neat, & I'm excited to try my first.

On a personal note, I'll be 26 on 9/11/16. I live in Minnesota on a farm with about 4 acres. We just bought the place a year ago so we're learning the land. We have a massive garden & enough apple trees to feed our small town.

Growing up, I hardly ever read. I found it to be a bit nerdy. When I did read, I loved it. I wish I had read more.

As I got a bit older, I thought I only liked romance stories. Then I read a book about zombies & it opened me up to more genres.
I read very random things. I don't have just a few genres I like. For instance, today I finished a chick-lit book about online love (Chat Love) & also finished Tuesday's with Morrie. (Two books in one day is not normal! I take my time.)

My favorite book of all time? Can I say "The Notebook?" I also really loved "Wild." I just finished "Me Before You" recently & that was very good. I feel like I will never even come close to being able to say "I've read a lot of books." It is so overwhelming how many books are out there. I want to read them all.

Enough of me. Let's get to reading!

Welcome, Colleen!!! We are so honored to be your first group and hope you find that you enjoy it. How amazing to be studying in northern France!

At any rate, please don't hesitate to reach out to any of the administrators or members if you have any questions. We just announced the new tag for next month, so hopefully you will find a book that fits the theme of "animals" and join in the fun :).

Hi - I'm new to Goodread Groups and this one is my first to join. Happy to be here and interested to learn about "tags".

message 391: by Susan (new)

Susan Tunis (suetu) | 30 comments Hi,

I'm Susan, known as Suetu to some. I was an active member of the Shelfari community for a few years. Unfortunately, my work life has devoured all "screwing around on the internet time," so I visit infrequently these days. Still, it's so nice to see you guys!

I'm glad I've finally visited/joined the Goodreads group. It looks like it's worked out well. Not the same, but not terrible. Congrats on getting the community back up and humming along.

Susan

Hi Marnie!! Welcome to PBT. So happy you found us and chose us to join first. That's so nice!!

Our upcoming tag for November will be animals. I hope you can find a book that fits that theme on your "to-read" list and will join us in reading and sharing our favorite animal books.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to myself or any of the members here if you have any questions at all.

As a total aside, your last name is the name of the town I grew up in, lol!

message 396: by AsimovsZeroth (new)

AsimovsZeroth (asimovszerothlaw) | 436 comments Hello there!

I'm Kathryn. I'm twenty-six, live in Oregon and I'm disabled, which leaves me with a lot of free time to read. Currently I'm a student, learning Russian with the hope of becoming an interpreter. As a result, my reading list is about to become heavily focused in Russian history and literature.

This group sounds like just what I've been looking for! I hate needing to get a specific book during a set period of time, so the flexibility this group offers is fantastic. I look forward to getting to know the community!

I love reading just about anything I can get my hands on. I have a strange habit of reading multiple books at once. I’m often working on half a dozen different books in various genres. I love a lot of the classics. The Count of Monte Cristo is my all time favorite book. I’m also a huge fan of Dostoevsky, Dickens, Nabakov, Steinbeck; Poe; Heinlein; Asimov; Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams; Terry Pratchett; Philip K. Dick; Kurt Vonnegut; George R.R. Martin; Chuck Palahnuik; Lois McMaster Bujold and Tamora Pierce.

I’m a huge history fan. My favorite history set is an eleven volume set spanning from our earliest knowledge of civilization, all the way up through Napoleon’s time. It’s called The Story of Civilization by Will and Ariel Durant.

Sci-fi and fantasy are my favorite "easy reads". I don't tend to read mystery, romance or westerns often, but I'm always open to broadening my horizons.
