True to its promise, non-stop action. Exhausted just reading it. Day of the Triffids meets Resident Evil. Great descriptions of the violence meted out: "the honeycomb crunch of the man's trachea collapsing." Ouch.
Hi there everyone,Special thanks to Lisa for letting me know that you folks would be reading Fast. I absolutely love talking about writing, so if anyone has any questions, please just fire them off. Also, I have rhino-thick skin, so anything you don't like, please tell me about that too. I learn more from people who read my stories and give me feedback than I have ever been able to learn on my own.
So anyway, I hope no one minds my hanging out with your crowd while you spend some time in my head. My internet is spotty, but I'm going to try to check in regularly.
Happy reading everyone.
Shane

Hello, Shane. The group read discussion threads are a safe place for readers, thus free of author dialogue. I will keep your post out of courtesy, and since we have issued any clear statements about this happenstance.
Members are free to contact you via your private message function but I will ask them to keep this discussion thread free of direct questions to you as the author.
Edited to add: I created an author page for you under the member author folder. I included a link in the first post for readers who want to go there and engage with you about the book. Thank you for your respect and consideration for our group.

Hi there, Daniel. Many apologies for my mistake. I hoped to add to the reader's experience, but as a guest here I believe that the house rules are paramount. Perhaps there might be an option where the readers could decide to invite the authors if they choose? It seems that a nice draw card for readers is being overlooked. In any regard, I appreciate you leaving my message here, as I anticipated that some readers were waiting for it.
So that it doesn't look like I just abandoned the readers, could you post a message letting them know that I had inadvertently stepped over the line and will not be participating any further.
Thank you for being such a nice mod. I have encountered some awful ones, but you seem to have the balance right. Have you read any of my books? If you are a Literary Adrenaline Junkie then you may enjoy them. Let me send you one for free.
Have a great week,
Shane
I think it's a great opportunity to be able to read a book and discuss it with the author maybe we could open a separate thread for those that would like to.

I agree...that's a great idea Justin! Much more fun to discuss with author and pick his brain as we read :)

Hi again. I'm very happy to participate (excited about it, actually) in any kind of discussion thread, so long as we aren't contravening our host's policies. I'm afraid I'm not as up-to-date with the rules as I should be. I thought it would be all right to just chat to people as they read my book, for example, but I can imagine some very thin-skinned authors who take offence at readers trying to help them with honest comments, and turn the thread into an unpleasant experience, so I completely understand Danielle's (apologies for earlier misspelling your name) position. This is a place for readers. If there is some part of the Goodreads forum where I can dedicate my attention to your current group read, please invite me.
Otherwise I hope you enjoy the book!
Happy reading
Shane

Thanks for the comments and questions. I appreciate your thoughts.
So here is the why. Goodreads is having some growing pains in the past years. Previously, it wasn't a question about having authors participate in the discussion, but with some of the recent changes, it's been a consideration that I have to take seriously. As a moderator, I want to make sure that this group is a safe place for readers who just want to read and discuss books and have the choice whether or not to engage with the author of that book. It is absolutely nothing personal against you Shane. Our Co-Moderator, Hugh is very passionate about promoting new authors and facilitating their ability to engage with readers on this forum. He has created two different folders for that.

I have created a thread for you here, where you can have members chat with you about your books. And readers who want to talk directly to you and ask questions about the books can come to this thread and chat with you. Thanks for your consideration and understanding.

I have modified the introductory post with a link to your thread. I think that everyone can feel comfortable with this solution.

Thank you for the new thread Danielle! So who all has started reading this book already? It definitely starts off with a bang!

In order to keep this space a safe place for readers who just want to read and discuss our group read with other readers, I am asking that the author not engage with readers here. If you have questions or comments directly to the author, who is a member of this group, you are welcome to go to this thread I have created for him for direct discussion with members:
Shane M. Brown Author Thread
You can also contact him personally through his author page on Goodreads.
