Welcome to February! We're officially 1/12th of the way into our reading challenge. How are you all doing?

I've read 8 books so far, so a little shy of staying on track for 100 books. *gulp*

message 2: by Faith (new)

Faith (faithpotts) I've read 17 books this far!! :D

Woooww!! Lol. I didn't realize!!

message 5: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) I am right on track with 8 books read. I presently have four in the works so I hope to finish at least 2 a week.

message 6: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (ltg584) | 6 comments I've read 9 so far, which is behind my usual pace, but I'm sure I'll pick up the pace next month *fingers crossed*

Sierra Faith (bookaddict_98) | 1 comments Njne books :) hopefully will resd more this mjnth!

message 8: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 21 comments I read 25 already!

Benjamin Thomas | 104 comments I've got 5 in the door so far. Running behind schedule, but fully geared up for February!

message 10: by Wombat (new)

Wombat 23 have been read and commented on, 2 more finished but no write ups yet.

Its been a quiet month with not much going on, but i dont think it likely to continue. Still, great start!

message 11: by Helen (new)

Helen | 18 comments I've read 9, so about on target.

message 12: by C.B. (new)

C.B. Cook (cbcook) | 3 comments I'm doing okay... I've only read five. BUT I'm taking two literature classes this semester, so I should be reading quite a few. I'm almost finished with Beowulf...

message 13: by Wombat (new)

Wombat Hi Hannah. I read a lot on my phone - kindle is awesome. Read on bus, waiting in line for coffee, a little as I wake up in bed, and probably an hour or so at night.

Lots of opportunity - especially as I've stopped gaming, and not so interested in TV.

message 14: by Faith (new)

Faith (faithpotts) Hannah,
I sleep...some. xD And I've stayed somewhat caught up in school and whatnot. I probably won't be able to read that many books this month. ;)

message 15: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Minson | 8 comments Read lots of articles, but only finished 1 book. Oh I'm soooo far behind. Looking forward to winter. I'll catch up then. Snuggling under a blankie and read when its too cold to move. :)

message 16: by Wombat (new)

Wombat Hannah - I tend to binge watch series when I can- I don't own a TV and refuse to sit and stare at a screen according to someone else's schedule :)

Although I do make some exceptions - the expanse is an awesome TV series - based on an even better book series - read "Leviathan Wakes" if you get the chance. Super scifi if you like that genre.

message 17: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 3 comments 13 so far -- only 12 by the end of January. So, on track for now, but I may fall behind later when I get into some of the massive tomes I hope to read this year... So far I've read some shorter books that were easy to finish in a day (e.g., a TED book and an encyclical). But I mean to read Infinite Jest this year, and that will take some time.

message 18: by Susan (new)

Susan Monroe | 3 comments I have read 12 so far. Yeah for being a little ahead!

message 19: by Candace (new)

Candace | 3 comments 6 so far. Not quite as many as I hoped, but good to see a little dint made in my to-read pile!

message 20: by Heather (new)

Heather (bookwormh190) | 3 comments Nine books so far! This is the most I've read in a month in a long time - it's so good to be back to reading as much as I used to as a teenager! Discovering some fun books, some I wouldn't read again but am glad I read them once. My to-read list isn't looking so daunting anymore at this pace!

message 21: by Govi (last edited Feb 02, 2016 11:04AM) (new)

Govi (4g3dvan1lla) | 14 comments I'm up to 10 and am about to finish 3 more. I feel like I'm reading non-stop. Not sure how some of these people are reading more than twice that. Good going fellow goodreaders! I'm afraid my rate is going to slow a bit because classes are starting again on the 8th. That does mean, however, that I will be writing more, which I'm looking forward to.

Wowsers! I wish I could read that fast :)

message 23: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (olivia_r) Several of the books I read were short ones and children books, so that is partly why I was able to read more last month.

Nice! I've also tried to stop watching so much tv - and succeeding halfway. I at least try to w..."

I'm definitely not watching as much because I'm too busy reading and interest isnt there. Although I did sneak in a movie a couple days ago. Spectre the James Bond movie. Couldnt resist that one. But I'm buckling down this month and having fun.

Amber (amberkayc) | 4 comments 19 so far. I am on track for my goal.

I also read 8 during January, and I was definitely reading more than I did last year. I'm inspired..."

@Hannah...
I also manage to sleep at night! I work three jobs, too (one full-time, two part). I am a quick reader and have perfected the art of "reading and". Waiting in line, waiting in traffic, doing the dishes, eating dinner, eating lunch. Part of the reason I prefer hardcovers is because I can prop them open while doing other things. Only one of mine this month was a novella. I do admit to binge reading on Sunday afternoons, so I read three books this Sunday. I can read a regular book in about two to three hours.

I do not have a tv and rarely watch things, though I do love a good crime drama or romantic comedy. But I find reading much more restful when I am tired.

Of course, I am happiest while reading! I also scribble at writing, and I have managed a healthy 2,000 words or so per week this month, also.

message 28: by Mary (new)

Mary Herceg (aerelien) I've read 10 books so far this year, but my semester of school just started, so I probably won't be doing nearly as much pleasure reading as I'd like for a while - largely because I'll be reading large sections of college textbooks instead. ;) And actually, I usually would have read more books by this point, but I've been doing a lot more writing this year in addition to reading.

message 29: by Greg (new)

Greg Smith If this were a marathon... I'd be just passed the start/finish line tying my shoe lace. Oh, and the fragrance from that bakery...

Off to a slow start, but I have confidence I'll make up ground. Tortoise and Hare, right? Wearing the t-shirt ( ... also a jet pack.)

You'll probably beat us all!! Lol.

message 31: by Bodil (new)

Bodil Hov | 3 comments 9 books so far for me, but I've been out of comission a week. Picking it up again now!

message 32: by Greg (new)

Greg Smith Olivia wrote: "You'll probably beat us all!! Lol. ."

Lol! Not sure about that! You've made some great progress, over 1/4 of the way there!! And besides, even a jet-pack equipped tortoise can be as susceptible to overconfidence as the naturally speedy hare... boy, wouldn't that make for an interesting character reversal!

message 33: by JennyR (new)

JennyR (jenniferra) 17 books so far...

message 34: by Melina (new)

Melina Grace | 2 comments 26 though I'm having trouble working out how yo get goodreads to put them in my 2016 read books, instead of just on my bookshelf.

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 21 comments Melina wrote: "26 though I'm having trouble working out how yo get goodreads to put them in my 2016 read books, instead of just on my bookshelf."

If you click on "you have read x of x books" under your challenge on the main page, there is a shortcut to a shelf showing all books you've shelved in 2016, read or not. Click on the "missing books?" link to go there.

I try to always review things, so I remember what I did and didn't like about each book. However, if you don't want to, click "write a review" and scroll down below the review section to "set date read" and click save.

message 36: by Rick (new)

Rick Presley | 18 comments My problem is entering them into Goodreads. I know there are books I've read that I haven't logged. But I can't remember which ones they are.

message 37: by Jessica (last edited Feb 14, 2016 03:18PM) (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) I have been sick the last couple of weeks. Where I was 2 books ahead of schedule I am now one book behind schedule. Hope to get caught back up before the end of next week.

message 38: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Buller (lucybuller) I've read 25 books so far!

Benjamin Thomas | 104 comments Changing my strategy so I can stay on track.
Keep your game face on.

message 40: by Chad (new)

Chad Hoblitz (codewitch) | 9 comments I have read 7 books so far

message 41: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) I got caught up today so I am good for a few more days, but I really need to get busy and finish reading some of these books that I am on.

message 42: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Thomas | 104 comments I caught up this week too. I'm doing a balancing act of some shorter books, audiobooks, regulars and rereads. Sweet!

message 43: by Rick (new)

Rick Presley | 18 comments I'm counting the graphic novels I've read, because there are other books that I've forgotten to add to GoodReads, so my count is off a little to begin with.

message 44: by Chickadee (new)

Chickadee So far I've read 19 books. I'm half way finished with book #20

message 45: by Chickadee (new)

Chickadee Rebekah wrote: "Several of my books were only about 180 pages. I read on my phone, while watching TV, in the car etc., plus, I'm a fast reader! "

I notice that I tend to read a really good book much faster than a book that is good or fair. But I suppose most people have the same experience.
