I have a quick question regarding a scene in Chapter 14.
When Farideh is leaning over the body of Brume, crying because she realizes he is dead and she has lost her way to communicate with Dahl, Lorcan asks her "Did you know him?" But on the next page (on my Nook) Lorcan comes back with Mehen from having chased the demon. I then flipped back a page or two to confirm that Lorcan did in fact go chasing after the demon.
Am I missing something? The DM in me says that all members of the party were otherwise engaged, and Brin and Farideh should have been alone in that room.

Huh. I don't know how that slipped through. Originally, Lorcan was in the room with them. But in the revision, I decided to get him out of there because he would have figured out really quickly that if she knows a guy with a flying messenger snake, that is something he should worry about.
I like to pretend this is a good sign. The story is SO engaging that the editor, copyeditor, proofreader, and typesetter missed it. :p
But apologies nonetheless. I messed up.

Oh no!! Does that mean I am not enjoying the story?!?!? LOL
No problem. It just threw me off for a second. I felt like Lorcan had suddenly reappeared behind Farideh and my mind raced with what might be happening.
If you ever want a 6th pair of eyes to take a look at a draft in the future just let me know. :)

Hey!!I am new here, I started listening to Brimstone Angels Series' audio-books in the beginning of this year...
So now that I caught up to you guys I decided to post here, for the first time.
First, only now I am starting to like Dahl. All the trouble he is going through to help his family and find a way to talk to Farideh made me like him more.
The impression I got back in "Lesser Evils" was pretty much like: "Dahl is an idiot."
Well, Fari & Dahl is not really my type of romance, I like Havi & Brin better.
Now, even though Havilar is my favorite character from the series and probably my favorite character in all the realms and I love her to death, I think she is being too hard on Aubrin.
Although I do understand her feelings of "oh he had more lovers than me, I should have had more lovers too to know what is right" and I must confess I would feel the same way... I think she should just let it go and be happy with him, their love is just too beautiful <3 <3 <3
I was surprised when she was invited to teach the hatchlings, I am curious to know if she is going to accept it and how that would affect their love story.
Another surprise for me was Brume's death, I don't know why I thought he was going to stay around longer.
Well sorry my bad English (not my first language).
And thank you!! xDD
Hi Hellen. Welcome to the group.
I really enjoyed this section, probably because I felt like things were really starting to take shape. Dahl and company find their way into the library and he begins to feel the presence of Oghma, there is the encounter with the demon in the tombs, and my favorite part of the section...
"My dear," she asked, "how is it you came by your silvered eye?"
Was I the only one who got a chill when I read that?

Chad/2, I caught the same little hiccup. But it was minor enough that I think it could be Hellen, I've only been reading since the Adversary, but Dahl has certainly come a long way since then. I just hope he can figure out a way out of this mess he's in, both with the Zhents, and then with Lorcan.
Chad, loved that part at the end of this section. I had planned to stop reading that night at the end of the chapter...but when that dropped, it was clear that I was going to be a bit sleep deprived the next day. ;)
Another small thing, but a part I liked: chapter 13, Anala: "And I don't mind flicking his snout, given the option." I don't really know what that means, but I love these kinds of phrases that are sprinkled here and there as a way to bring a culture to life. It's been my refrain throughout the book, but Erin's really writing the book on dragonborn society in the Realms. I've never played a Dragonborn, but I might be inclined to give one a try at some point just so that I can dabble in the world that Erin's created here.
Also: "Batty-zoo?" Haha
I am really enjoying that the Vayemniri expressions of emotion actually fit with their physiology, the mentions of teeth gapping, or tongues hammering or even the collection of frost around an opening maw. I love it. It also works well with Erin’s descriptions of Vayemniri culture. I feels, if Erin will forgive the parallel being drawn, a little reminiscent of time when Elaine’s early Realms books were coming out. In the same as she, effectively, created Elvish culture as we came to know it in the 2E-3E era, it now feels like Erin is doing the same thing with the Vayemniri. I like it. I have never wanted to play a Dragonborn character so much as I do now!I really do wonder about the proportion of their modern culture came about either pre-slavery, during subjugation or after they threw down/escaped the tyrants. Erin? Anyone?
Dumuzi’s terror of Mehen and his resemblance to Panjed (lightning breath) is also prodding at the back of my brain.
Sessaca continues to both charm and infuriate me. At the moment, the charm is winning. Especially with Mira around to help with the needling of Dahl. All the same, I am glad that Fari’s note got through, even if the sudden closure of that route felt a bit… convenient.
I am happy that the crew has finally gotten their heads around the Maurezhi, even if that meant more screen time for Lorcan.
The library instantly felt both intriguing… and vaguely reminiscent. All that is missing the The Book!
…the one-eyed ancestor… where the merry heck is this going?

Let the adventure continue...
