Please keep all discussion and speculation to the events of Part 4 (Chapters 24-30).

No spoiler tags required. Though it would be highly appreciated if you Uncheck Add to my Update Feed to avoid accidentally spoiling this for your good read friends.

Please do not discuss events from later chapters/books. Referring back to events from a previous section/book is fine

Man, I really like Thom. Even more on this reread. His sacrifice so the boys can get away from the Fade was unexpected (the first time).

I wonder why their are more bards (or innkeepers) as protagonists, or even supporting characters. The only series I can think of like that is KingKiller, and Kovothe is not really a bard or an innkeeper. Or well most of the time the story doesn't take place while he's an innkeeper.

I wonder if it's possible to tell a good story set in an inn. Sort of like Cheers, only with magic and maybe a dragon. :)

Scott (thekeeblertree) | 1049 comments I enjoyed Thom as well. Was sorry to see him go, hoping he's not dunzo

Dude, fantasy Cheers would be pretty amazing. Wonder who could pull it off?

Bill | 1596 comments I think Esslemont's prequel trilogy should have some of that since they started out in a bar.

Bill | 1596 comments I really like Thom too. Pretty slick with those blades. He works really well as a way to educate the sheltered farm boys about the world and to introduce some history.

"Gorm!"
"How's life treating you, Mr. The Dragon Slayer?"
"Gimme a tankard and I'll tell you about it."

Haha! Awesome. Now go write me the rest :)

Liam Johnstone (hadaad) | 383 comments Dragons to slay in the world today take everything you've got
Taking a break from killing a giant snake sure would help a lot
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you wanna go
Where everybody's got a sword
And they fight the overlord
You wanna be where Druids can flee
And dwarves get tossed overboard
You wanna go where everybody has a sword

Sumant | 522 comments I noticed the tinkers in this section and they interested me the most, also their way of the leaf is a different philosophy to lead the life because violence they say changes the culprit too. Also they are called as lost by some and they are avoided by the Aiel.

Another interesting thing was the message they got from the dying Aiel woman which says that tree killer is going to be loose and be lookout for the one who comes with dawn.

Also the sailor which Mat,Rand & Thom met was interesting because he told them about many wonders in this land the few I can remember are

1. The steel structure they saw while travelling the Aranelle.
2. The fist rising from the mountain.
3. Spike present inside the mountain.

He also told them about the sea folk who keep searching for their Caramoor.

Bill | 1596 comments Nice points Sumant. Definitely a ton of foreshadowing going on in this book.
