Thank you for joining in, Linda. Glad you enjoyed the book, and flattered that you love the website.
Anyone that has read Void may be interested in viewing the new page I've just posted on my website that shows images of the area in which the book was set:http://www.davidstaniforth.co.uk/extr...
Super pictures! I actually looked up some of the landmarks online as I read, and of course, I listened to the music as well. I loved everything about it!
I wanted to provide my comments to the book discussion of VOID. I started reading VOID during the book discussion window, but I was not able to finish the book recently due to other life challenges. David, I thoroughly enjoyed VOID and I was impressed how you incorporated music in the book. That opened up the visual aspects for the book. I noticed you mentioned the phrase "slow moments of silence" in the first paragraph of Chapter 25. I watched the musical group Disturbed perform "The Sounds of Silence" on Conan O'Brien around the same time I read that line. That resonated well with me. The performance is on YouTube. I highly recommend view this video. Two of my other favorite authors; Michael Connelly and John Connolly (No relation. Sorry, I stole that line from the Dexter books.) They both mention how music impacts their writing. They also devote their website and social media sites to the importance of music. I feel music is a great art form compliment to reading. Thank you moderators for including VOID in the book discussion. And thank you David for providing an outstanding discussion of your book, VOID.
Thanks for reading and reviewing, Void, Jimmie, and for commenting on this thread.I watched the video. A great version of a classic track, which I really enjoyed. Thanks for pointing me to it; expected it to really rock at one point.
Music certainly compliments reading/writing for me, and is a massive part of my creative process. Even when not mentioned directly in the text, I usually have something in my mind, setting the tone or the mood of the scene I am writing, particularly in my fantasy works.
At Jimmie, You are one of the first ones to mention that you enjoy John Connolly. So DO I! I have read most of his Charlie Parker books, love them/ love him as a character and can't wait until Aug. 2nd for Time of Torment , #14, Charlie Parker, to be released! And, I 2nd everyone's favorable comments, David, as you wrote a great book and provided us with great explanations and a better understanding of it !
