Can you describe the plot in a linear fashion?

I think a re-read will put a lot of things into place, but, for example, what was the significance of Father Wilfred's hatred for Henry? Who exactly was Leonard, as he didn't speak like a local?



I don't think it was ever explained exactly why Father Wilfred hated Henry. I thought it of like when a child is picked out at school to bully for a very slight reason even though many other children have the same characteristics. It is mentioned that Henry's parents have money and Wilfred grew up poor but that it is not the whole explanation.
I thought Leonard was a procurer of pregnant girls for the sacrifices. Much of that part of the novel didn't make sense to me such as how the blind woman and the ill men were made whole before the sacrifice.
