So, Lila is actually able to do two kinds of magic, water and fire! I don't even know... Is an Antari supposed to know all 5 kinds of magic? If so, then it wouldn't be a surprise that she can do more than just fire...
I thought it was pretty cool that we saw that Ned guy again. I think he's quite adorable with his enthusiasm for magic! To be honest I wasn't aware that magic was this rare in Grey London. I thought that a few people would be as "talented" as Ned, but would just never discover it... But obviously something strange is going on...

Considering how this series hasn't been too heavy on the romance side, I feel like it would be the latter.

Part 4:
(view spoiler)[I’m glad Schwab went back to what happened to Holland after he was “killed” by Kell. It was awesome to finally be able to picture what Black London is like! The Shadow King is so creepy, but I love it! Holland must have used his magic to create the new Antaris in White London.
So Rhy must be feeling empty after dying and coming back to life. I imagine he’s irritable with Kell not only because their emotions are linked, but because he resents that Kell brought him back. I feel bad for both Rhy and Kell :( Kell was just trying to bring his best friend back to life, but it was Rhy’s time to die and now there’s friction between the two.
I’m interested to see how the tournament goes with Kell competing now. It would be so cool to see Kell and Lila both competing under a disguise! Like, imagine Kell and Lila being the last two left in the competition, only for them to find out they’re competing against each other. That would be pretty funny, especially after Kell’s speech about how good he is :D (hide spoiler)]

Was anyone actually surprised that there was black magic involved? I for one totally expected that something like that must have happened. And seems like those spells they'd cast on Black London back in the day weren't super effective at keeping everything locked up there... I wonder how our heroes are going to deal with that....
About the tournament: First, I was kind of surprised that Kell doesn't automatically participate in the games. The reason why he's not supposed to participate wasn't very good in my opinion. And it didn't seem to be a very good reason for him either if he's willing to participate without much resistance...

Wow, Lila appears to be really powerful. I can see how her magic is blossoming and I’m excited to see what more she can do.
Ah, the old “just barely miss each other” trope. But seriously, why do authors always do this? They make me want to see these two together again for more than half of the book, while constantly teasing their closeness. I just want to see Lila and Kell back together again. I didn’t realize I missed their dynamic this much. (hide spoiler)]

So, Lila actually wants to participate! I wonder how she's going to sneak her way into the tournament...
I liked the scene between Lila and Alucard on the ship. The two of them have so much chemsitry! Too bad Alucard ruined it. But I still think that Lila's reaction was way over the top. She's very sensitive about her past in my opinion. And I don't know if you noticed, but Lila compared Alucard a lot to Kell in this chapter... So, I think Lila is more into Kell than she'd ever admit...
I'm starting to wonder what is going on between Kell and Alucard. There seems to be a rivalry between the two of them that isn't just because of a girl, so this could make the story really interesting!

(view spoiler)[So Alucard is a royal. Interesting. I can see now how Lila and Alucard are similar to each other. They’re both in search of an adventure and they both use manipulation and theatrics as a cover. Now that I’m picturing Alucard as more of a Hook from Once Upon a Time and less of a Barbosa from Pirates of the Caribbean, I actually think they would make a really great couple.
Kell really is obsessing over Lila quite a bit. It seems like there are so many potential love interests for Lila: Rhy, Kell, and Alucard. Not that I’m rooting for a romance, because honestly I would be happy to not have one, but it seems like Schwab keeps insinuating something between the characters. Out of the three, I think Kell would be the most predictable and boring choice to pair with Lila. I’m not sure I can even picture Lila in a relationship, since she seems to always have her mind on adventure and magic.
I’m so excited to see Lila participate in the tournament! I thought for sure if she was going to enter, that she would be taking Alucard’s place. I didn’t think she was going to take some other player’s identity. For some reason, I figured Alucard was going to be proud of her for entering, but I completely understand why he was angry with her. I wonder what favor he’s going to ask of her. (hide spoiler)]

Other than that, I'm not sure I'm liking where the story is heading.... Lila attacking someone and knocking him out to take his place in the tournament is kinda disappointing... Especially, because it was such a dumb desicion of hers. She knows that Alucard can see magic, so how would he not notice who she is during the tournament? The problem resolved itself, because Alucard actually found out beforehand and even helped her (another action I don't get). I'm kind of disappointed for now...

Well, Schwab does have a great way to destroy all my potential ships at once and making me uncamfortable on the bus, because that's exactly where I read that scene between the two of them :D

Seems like we now kind of know what's going on between Alucard and Kell, although I'm wondering how exactly Alucard hurt Rhy before he left...
I'm also getting a feeling that we'll be left with a cliffhanger at the end of the book, because we don't have too many pages left and I don't think it's possible to squeeze in the whole tournament and the drama with Holland... I actually think the tournament will be interrupted by Holland's plan to make Kell the new host for the black magic (I forgot his name, I'm sorry)....

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book, but the story is getting weaker and weaker. That's probably one of the reasons I fell behind on our reading schedule... I'm just not super excited about everything that's happening...

Alright, the grand finale is coming! I wish I could say I'm looking forward to that because I'm thrilled for what's coming, but to be honest, I'm glad it's not going to drag on any longer.... And I have a feeling that the last part won't be a huge surprise to me. Here is what I think will happen (Don't feel pressured to read this, feel free to come back after the last chapter): (view spoiler)[Ojka is going to crash the ball, and put that ring on Kell. That ring will somehow transfer the black magic onto Kell, Lila will have to save the world in book three. (hide spoiler)]
I liked the fight between Lila and Kell and I have a feeling they're going to fight over the question if Lila won because she's so good or because Kell let her win. But still, I think Lila's magic skills developed way too quickly, especially since we didn't see a lot of it happening and now it's just being thrown out there. I actually like the little passages where we see the lessons Alucard is giving Lila, but I wish we would have seen more of her skills before the tournament. Now it just seems like it's coming out of nowhere...
And I don't understand why Lila would suddently be the girl to wear fancy dresses to a ball.... She seemes really weird annd sometimes even out of chracter since the middle of the book....

(view spoiler)[I did it!! Finally finished the book! Okay as negative as this sounds, all in all I really enjoyed this book. It's probably because I love the characters and magic. Generelly I think the Idea with the magic competition was amazing (altough Schwaab could still make more out of it). Also the parts that were so much and a little bit confusing to me were better in the end and I will continue with the last book soon.
Oh and I'm so happy about Emery winning!
AND the Kiss between Lila and Kell? It was a cool scene but still kind of cringey, right? (hide spoiler)]

I do remember finding out about Alucard and Rhy! It all makes so much sense now why Kell doesn't like Alucard. He's playing the protective older brother :) I'm not sure yet how I feel about their relationship. I think I need more background info and more scenes of them together to be sure. I don't really trust Alucard very much.
I also remember something about Holland and the black magic making some kind of a deal. That was probably important, but oh well. I'll just keep reading since I'm already a bit behind ;) (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I got major Hunger Games vibes from the beginning of this tournament. Even as I was thinking that, they announced one of the players as “Fire Cat” :D
Poor Kell :( I feel like he just can’t catch a break. His “parents” completely distrust him, and I’m not sure they ever even cared about him as more than another guard. Now Holland has plans to use this collar on him and it sounds like it’s effect is horrible.
I wonder if they’re going to pull a Luke and Leia with Kell and Lila. We don’t know anything about their real families, so they could totally be siblings. I think I would like that better than them being love interests, although it would be a little weird since they seem to have feelings for one another. But that could also be that they are sensing their familial relationship? (hide spoiler)]

Despite that, I was hoping what was going to happen was they find out while in the middle of their fight. I’m a little disappointed Kell had to lose to Lila.
I wonder what is going to happen when Lila gets unmasked…
I’m looking forward to the finale, but mostly because I don’t feel that into this book anymore. Maybe the next one will be different. (hide spoiler)]

I feel like it's pretty obvious that Lila is an Antari and will be able to get travel to White London.
I'm glad that Lila didn't end up winning, because I feel like that would have been too unrealistic.
Even though I'm not in love with this series, I'm interested in reading the next book so I can find out what ends up happening. Maybe Schwab will surprise me and I will end up really enjoying this last book. The way a story is completed is the most important part, in my opinion :) (hide spoiler)]

The first two chapters where you think her ship's been stolen and she was left for dead tied up and then the other ship save her but she kills them all and takes their ship, and you find out IT WAS FOR A BET! I screamed out loud. I love Lila.

No sign of Kell yet, but Lila is sure their paths will cross again, so yay. I loved the friendship that developed between them in the first book (and if I'm honest, I wanted them to be more than friends) so I'd be happy if we could get more of them together in this book.

Again, can I say I love Kell and Lila. I'm so ready for a reconciliation now! I loved the cute moment where Lila was getting mad that Kell was trying to pay her tab and the shop owner (keep forgetting her name) was like he keeps coming back to see if you've come back, you idiot. So cute.

So Alucard used to be Rhy's lover. Interesting development. I wonder how Kell will react to Alucard being Lila's captain and friend.

I keep forgetting that Holland is in this book. He's been in like 4 chapters or something, and I'm not sensing a threat so far. Unless this book is building up to something and then the next book will work on resolving that.

I really don‘t know how to feel about Holland, because we know his backstory and after everything the Danes have done to him... I feel a tiny bit with him, I guess. So, he is going to be an intresting villain, if you aske me. But still, making the deal with... Ehm, I forgot it‘s name... Anyways, we all know that this will not end good.

I really like Alucard too. Unfortunately I was bit spoilered, so I know a bit about him and whats coming. Anyways, from what I know, this will be super intresting.

I bet that whatever Ned wanted to show Kell will come up later. I guess magix returned to Grey London, so this will be interesting. I‘m so sorry for Kell. His parents treat him so bad.. Sure, he messed up. But, he saved Rhy‘s life after all. It‘s just mean that they treat him this bad and Rhy (who also made a mistake) so much better. (hide spoiler)]

Now, Lila and Kell are finally at the same place, which is what I have been waiting for the entire 250 pages! But it looks like they will compete against each other! Maybe, they will team up?

Oh, and can I just add how cute it was that Kell always checked on Calla just to see if Lila had come back?

So, I‘m done with the book and I don‘t know what to say right now... I read like 250 pages in a few hours and so much happend!

What I can say is that this book is unbeliveable good. You basically see a lot of stuff coming but still, it is not exactly what you thought will happen and it is so great written, that you simply don‘t care.

Seriously, I can‘t think of a single thing that I didn‘t like. (view spoiler)[ Sure, like you side, it takes really long for Kell and Lila to meet again but somehow, it was okay. Because the story didn‘t feel dragged out, since so many things were happening anyways. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I’m loving this book!!!! Holy cow!!!! Lila is back in London, and Kell thought he saw her! I love how he checked up with Calla (?) about Lila’s clothing bill... (slight swoon)

I’m intrigued by Alucard!! I kind of like his character, but I can’t tell if he’s up to something sneaky. Love it! I’m actually enjoying this one more than the first book!
