Sinéad (sineadm) Hi there, I'm Sinéad (pronounced Shin-aid for anyone not familiar with Irish names!) and I'm a 29 year old from Ireland.

I stumbled across this group when I noticed another GR user was a member. I clicked, liked what I saw and here I am!

I really enjoy crime and thriller novels. Most recently I've been making my way through Jo Nesbo's excellent Harry Hole series. Anyone else enjoy Scandi literature or Scandi drama TV such as Borgen, The Bridge or The Killing?

I've got lots of crime novels on my TBR list. So at some point, I'm hoping to get started with Camilla Lackberg, Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli and Isles series as well as Michael Connolly's Harry Bosch books. So many books lol! But I'm also hoping for some other suggestions, perhaps from some less well known authors.

Looking forward to chatting all things mystery, crime and thriller!

Sinéad :-)

Welcome! I'm a huge fan of the Scandinavian version of The Bridge. We're looking forward to hearing you "chatting all things mystery"!!

Sinéad (sineadm) Thanks Nancy! Glad there is someone else watching Scandi dramas! I've just finished season 3 of The Bridge - brilliant!

Sinéad (sineadm) Thanks Skye ☺ I am grateful to Sinéad O'Connor for making the name a little more well known lol. But every now and then I do get asked for clarification on pronunciation.

Thomas (tom471) | 2003 comments Welcome Sinead. If you like Gerritsen, try Dana Stabenow There are two series and my wife and I like both. We also like Connelly.

I know many people in the States who have Celtic names and they are pronounced differently: Seamus, for one.

Thank you Thomas! I haven't heard of Dana Stabenow. Glad to be introduced to a new author :-)

Skye | 2105 comments Sinead, have you read Steig Larsson's series?
Michael Connelly is my favorite writer and Harry Bosch is my favorite protagonist. I also like Sue Grafton's series as well as John Sandford's.

Yes, I've read Steig Larsson. I really enjoyed that trilogy! Although I haven't read The Girl in the Spider's Web - the reviews seem very mixed.

I'll have a look into Sue Grafton and John Sandford too. Thanks for suggesting!

Michael (micky74007) Welcome aboard. Have you cuecked out goodreads ireland?

message 13: by Sinéad (new)

Sinéad (sineadm) Hi Michael, thanks for your message! I'm definitely going to check out Goodreads Ireland. It would be nice to connect with some people closer to home.

I'm an animal lover too! Dogs being my preference. That's my border collie/aussie shepard cross, Finn, in my profile pic ☺

Hi Sinead! I've read some Jo Nesbo, but almost all of Micheal Connelly, a favorite of mine and lot of the Ken Buren's Jack Taylor books. You might also want to try Willian Kent Krueger's Cork O'Conner books set in Minnesota. The lead character is 3/4 Irish and 1/4 Native American and a lot of Native American culture and religion is mixed into the mystery.

Sinéad (sineadm) @Reacherfan Wow, that sounds interesting! I'll definitely have a look. Doesn't sound like anything I've read before! Thank you ☺
