Hi Laurin!

message 706: by Laurin (new)

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments Hi! How has everyone been? I've had a pretty busy summer!

message 707: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
I've been busy too. Traveling a lot, part work and part vacation.

message 708: by evie (last edited Jul 20, 2018 01:22AM) (new)

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments I've been busy settling my mum into an aged care home, and selling her property. I am sad to say goodbye to my father's garden. I managed to get some seed pods from his camelia trees and some cuttings from his orchids. Mum had a few orchids in pots and a huge African Blood Lily. I brought those home to my place.

That's always sad.

message 710: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3594 comments Good idea to save some plants if you can. I have several that were handed down to me from my grandmother. When the orchid cactus blooms, I always think of her.

message 711: by [deleted user] (new)

I have some hippyestrum bulbs given to me by my grandparents. Thankfully they thrive without too much input from me.

message 712: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) At one point I had some peonies that were cut from my grandmother's garden. I had to leave them behind when the marriage went to shit.

message 713: by [deleted user] (new)

I have a bacon bones & lentil soup in the slow cooker for dinner. The washing is done for the day. My kids have gone out for a milk shake. I am now sitting relaxing.

message 714: by [deleted user] (new)

For milk shake read tattoo. 😳

message 715: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Say what?

message 716: by [deleted user] (new)

Just dodged a prostate cancer bullet. Beat that!

message 717: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Wow, Clark! A survivor!

message 718: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Excellent!

message 719: by [deleted user] (new)

No symptoms but something showed up wonky in my blood work. After a few more blood tests and visits to a urologist, I finally got the all clear.

Took about 10 more years off of my life, in addition to the 30 or so my kids took.

message 720: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3594 comments That's great! I've had a couple of call-backs after screenings, and that wait until you get the all-clear seems interminable. Your mind naturally goes to the worst place.

Did you ask could you have the 10 years back? Congratulations on getting the all clear.

That is sad. Is that recent?

message 723: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Not recent. Many years ago. The sadness has mellowed greatly.

message 724: by The_Ficus (new)

The_Ficus _ | 69 comments Glad to hear it, the mellowing part.

message 725: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments The Ficus! Where have you been, ficus? What’s new?

message 726: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Cynthia wrote: "The Ficus! Where have you been, ficus? What’s new?"

In the corner, as always. Soaking up sun from the southern exposure.

message 727: by The_Ficus (new)

The_Ficus _ | 69 comments Sadly, however, I am now near northern exposure.

message 729: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Maybe we ought to get the Ficus a grow light for the holidays.

message 736: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Recipe schmecipe.

message 737: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I usually like a guide. But tonight I roasted cauliflower and used a half can of coconut milk, a teaspoon of white miso, 2 c homemade veg. Stock and a couple tablespoons of tahini. Really good, blended with my stick blender.

message 738: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sounds delicious.

message 746: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments John is volunteering at a hospital in Zimbabwe. Oldest daughter just left to meet him in Uganda for a gorilla trek/week of hiking. I am hoping for a quiet weekend, some work in the garden, my new novel and a nap. Happy mother's day to all of the mums.

message 747: by Scout (new)
