How are you today? The daily check-in thread
I thought I was the only one not excited about Shark week...totally inappropriate in light of the life changing events of late...
Desperate for something to read. Made my husband take me to Walmart at 5 this morning. We hit the IHOP and then crazy town (Walmart). I prefer Target but it doesn't open until 8. Living in a rural area with zero book stores really is a pain. We recently got a new Hobby Lobby and Dick's Sporting Goods. Hoping for a Barnes and Noble.

They weren't for sure what the cause was, probably a ruptured ovarian cyst. They sent me home with some ibuprofen and told me to come back in if it got any worse.

Have a good week!"
I worked yesterday and today, plus tomorrow, then I have a week off so I will :)
Updated my goodreads profile. Included my 'rating' system for the first time. The system was first written out for another group as a discussion entry.
I have just joined the group and thought I would quickly stick my toes in the water and say, "Hello."

Update on my health issues - I went to my normal physician, who thinks I have endometriosis. So I have an appointment in October to figure out if I do, and what the next steps may be.

Howdy!
Howdy!
I'm feeling upbeat and positive...my YA fantasy adventure has been a bit of an undertaking. There are good days and bad days. It is a different type of fantasy...an introspective fantasy with philosophical things woven into the fabric of the story...virtues to help young adults achieve happier relationships. Anyway, it has been an undertaking to put a new type of book out there. But I'm feeling encouraged! I think I need to explain that it's not the average fantasy! That way readers don't go into it with preconceived notions!
I have been a reading-glutton lately. Things to do? Too bad. I would rather curl up with my book. I need to break loose and socialize or else I will become a bent and cranky creature snarling at anyone who tries to be friendly thus distracting me from my books. Yep! I'll start tomorrow.
Great group-I just finished the 2nd book of the Follett trilogy, Winter of the World-anyone read the next book-Edge of Eternity? No spoilers please.
Waiting on the first snow of the year. Well stocked with books to read. Slightly low on cookies. Plenty of coffee.
Enjoying a cool respite after the heat wave conditions of yesterday and heading west for dinner with friends.
Feeling lucky to live in the South after talking with a friend who lives in Philly. She's stocked up on fire wood and stuff to melt the snow, cat food, people food. I guess there's a coziness about being snowed in, but it sounds like a lot of work to me.
I usually read non-fiction but my latest book is about the behind-the-scenes in Washington DC. It is This Town - Two Parties and a Funeral by Mark Leibovich. It is informative, without being gossipy and the author has a very witty style. I'm enjoying it very much.
Hey guys! I'm from Brazil \o/ and here it's 10:20 p.m. now. I'm feeling so sleepy, because today it was a long day of work.
About books, I'm reading two books, I could say they are that kind of relaxing reading, you know? And I'm about to start a third one. Their names:
1) Princess on the Brick (The Princess Diaries, #8)
2) To All the Boys I've Loved Before
3) The Color Purple
I hope your having nice readings, as I am. See you! :D

The word of the day is "overwhelmed". I just can't seem to find enough time to do things that need to get done, yet alone things I want to get done. I need more hours in the day lol

Hi everyone. I am new to goodreads and this is the first group I have joined. There has been some political unrest here and we are under curfew since last 30 days. However bad that might sound, it has allowed me to finally read books I had been planning for long. Hope things get back to normal soon.

I just finished with 'Keep the Aspidistra Flying'. Started with 'Crime and Punishment', hoping to finish by the end of this week. Got 'Burmese Days' and 'Barnaby Rudge' in the queue.
Laurin wrote: "Got my score back for the audit section of the CPA exam. 94/99! "thumbs up!!
Congratulations.
Now, about my taxes . . .

40 years later, it is not yet safe to go in the water.
JAWS, the movie, is queued up for the annual viewing (kind of a tradition for several years). This year it is especially disturbing with the latest events along the Eastern Seaboard of the US.
Happy Independence Day!
