Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 13 comments Anything by Murakami. Tried Kafka on the Shore but abandoned it after it meandered on too much for my liking. Won’t be trying anything else by him for the foreseeable future.

LOL me too. But I never admit is because I love everything else by Ray Bradbury, to the extent I shelled out $250 in 2001 for the limited edition Dark Carnival.

Before this, I'd finished every book I'd ever picked up, after I became a regular put-downer, because life's too short!

Linda (elderflower) | 9 comments The Giving Tree - such a lovely teaching to children, that a boy grows up using a tree until he has killed it, with no concern whatever for its welfare... and it's always referred to as "she" - the moral? Something to the effect that (male) humans are entitled to use nature (and by implication, female humans?) and nature/females will be "happy" to have been used and used up. And this is considered inspiring and heartwarming?

Serena | 4 comments Great expectations, it’s the only book I’ve consciously decided to not finish.

Madiha | 227 comments I recently switched schools, and this school is crazy on their reading. This week I had to read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and even the class "Bad boy" praised it. I tried to read one page and got distracted. It was horrible.

EDIT: turns out he ain't the bad boy.
