I'll join! I read about 2 books per week, mostly nonfiction or fiction :-) I'm from Ohio, USA and I think it would be fun to try and read books from random cities!
Team Flying for Fiction is looking for a hitchhiker:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
If someone would like to join a team right away rather than waiting for a new team to be formed. Please just let me know if you decide to do this so we don't accidentally add you to a new team later on :)
This looks like fun! I read a lot, but 2016 is the first year I've started really involving myself in goodreads. I am a massive crime fiction fan, but am currently working through a lot of classics. I usually love YA as well, but am a little burned out from this genre at the moment! Looking forward to chatting with my travel group ;)

I join the other team as a hitchhiker.
I'll sign up for team 16!2016 is the year for getting involved in reading challenges and talking to others about books, I guess.
I read a lot of YA, romance, reading more classics, and more mysteries, and I read, a, lot. So I'm sure this'll be awesome!

Hello, I'd like to join an Around the World challenge team. I'm already in the "Classics Without All the Class" and "1001 Books You Must Read" groups. I'm trying to read more books lately by writers from other countries after realizing a few yrs ago that a large majority of the writers I've read are from the US, Britain and Canada. Last year I read 7 books by writers from Mexico (2), Australia, France, Russia, Ireland and Germany. I just finished The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco (Italian) and am about to start "The Shadow of the Wind" by Ruiz Zafon (Spanish).I will either wait for the next team formed or hitchhike.
I'm not sure how good I'll be at this but I've been looking through and does seem like fun...so I'd like to join the next team :)
My name is Lucy. I would like to to join this too! What is a bear that has no teeth? GUMMY BEARS! heehee makes me giggle. <-- I love puns. <3
Hello. My name is Angela and I live Virginia, USA. I would like to join. I am not partial to one genre, but I would say my least favorites are romance and horror. Lately, I have chosen to read books based in different countries. So , this would be fun.
Looks like we need 3 more...I can be patient...actually I'm not very good at being patient sometimes, but for this I will be.
I'll sign up. This looks like fun. My name is Brittney from Texas. I read pretty much anything but mostly mystery/suspense thrillers. I love challenges!!

There are a few teams looking for some new players if you want to hitch a ride? You can see the teams here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Please just post back to this thread to let us know if you join one of the teams :)
Is this still going? I'd love to join! I'm Kirby from Chicago. I love reading science fiction most but I'm interested in most genres. Let me know if I can hitchhike :)
Kirby wrote: "Is this still going? I'd love to join! I'm Kirby from Chicago. I love reading science fiction most but I'm interested in most genres. Let me know if I can hitchhike :)"Hi Kirby! Armchair Travelers and Smokin' Ladies Brigade have both posted looking for new players here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... if you want to check out their team threads and jump on board one of the teams!
Are there others who would be interested in forming a team in which you just read books by writers from the countries you visit, and not do spellouts or other ways of completing the location? I have done a tour once in which we mostly did spellouts for the locations, so I'm familiar with the process.

yes you can be on two teams.Let me know if you want me to set a team up for the 3 of you and grab others as you go, or if you'd like to wait for more players
I'd like to join! Reading books from different countries sounds fun! Unless you want to read at a lightning speed, then I'll pass
I would be interested in reading books from different countries as well! Anna, looks like we could end up on the same team again :)

I agree, we can at least get set up and check in and get organized
Yes, let's get our own "thread". Wow, I'm happy to see there's that much interest in "Just reading books by authors of the countries", I didn't really expect it, but thought, I'll give it a shot. I would also hope we can be in a somewhat leisurely pace, as Anna said. We would probably be starting each location- book from scratch and not using others that we were already reading, and we would have to find copies. Finding copies could be hard for some places (like Finland, maybe), esp if you don't have a large local library. But I think it would stretch our reading habits. If it takes 6 months to do, that's okay with me.I believe we don't need to read the same book for the stop ( it may be fun to read the same book as other team members, though) as long as we "read books set in that country or by an author of that country" and we technically only need one team member to read a book from that country, but I would like it to be several. How does that sound?
Cool!Finland doesn't sound all that difficult. I can easily come up with a dozen countries I don't know any writers from :)
Here you are team 18 (you may want to think of a new name. haha). Your first country is CanadaTeam thread
I am also currently in another team (we are doing already first class itinerary, so all the fun will be over soon), but I really like the idea of reading books by authors of the countries we visit.Would also the books which setting is in those countries count or only the author is important?
Anyway, I would like to join this group of readers please, especially when there is no hurry to finish a book within a week, but just relax :)

Great! Also, I saw that Talia wanted to join - don't know if it was for a different team or if her post was missed.

Ok, team 18 is now FULL! :D
