I love the Old Bear. I though Jon was going to get an ass whoopin' but Old Bear seemed to not be phased by Jon's attempt at leaving.
I am starting to think that I am really a lucky girl to not have first read these books as they were released. I mean I could not wait for months, years (however long the horrible wait was)! That wait must have sucked so bad.

I agree Leslie, that wait had to be horrible!!! This chapter really highlights the mentorship between Jon and Mormont/Old Bear. It is definitely a father son type of relationship. Can't wait to find out what happened to Benjen Stark!!! Is he one of the murdered at the start of the book or did he possibly join the Wildlings beyond the wall?

Didn't he go out to investigate those missing people from the prologue? I think he was also the one who recruited Jon back at Winterfell.
Oops. You are correct Leslie. I totally forgot that detail, but I do still wonder who the dead men from the watch were at the Prologue.

Sam is starting to get more confident in himself and I love it.
I love how Mormont pointed out his friends have more honor than Jon since they brought him back.
