Poor Arya. Hoping that she can work through her grief and I will be interested to see what happens to her character later on in the series!!!

I am glad she didn't actually see with her own eyes the beheading. That would have been even more heart breaking for her. Poor kid!

This may sound silly but I don't care.

Exactly why did Ned end up in this chapter saying that "Joffrey Baratheon is the one true heir to the Iron Throne" when he knows it's not true.

Did I miss something? He basically admitted to being a traitor and he knows he wasn't. I was thinking about it as I read that part but forgot to post at the time.

Because of his conversation with Varys in the cell. He was worried about what would happen to his family, mainly Sansa and Arya who were in the hands of the Lannisters. Well, technically only Sansa was, but he didn't know that, as far as I can remember. I'll find the exact quote of what Varys says and post it.

Well, I can't find an exact quote, but Varys basically says that if Lord Eddard admits he's a traitor, Cersei will let him take the black and no harm will come to his children (namely, Sansa). But if he keeps claiming that Joffrey is not the rightful heir, then there's no telling what will happen to them. (He mentions something about Ned's next visitor bringing him Sansa's head...)

And luck? Yeah I would say so. I mean I think it is definitely good timing.

Well he was there recruiting for the Night's Watch. I just took it as good timing. I could be wrong.

I think it was explained somewhere, either in this chapter or the second book, but I don't really remember what they said and if they even said anything, it's just a feeling. I'll keep my eyes open for it when reading Arya's chapters in A Clash of Kings. Otherwise, my bet is on good timing, too.

This was where I realised this book was amazing this first time I read it. I remember being so shocked and I just kept on reading, just hoping for a chance Ned was still alive somehow.

Regarding Yoren, I can't remember where but I think Yoren explains it to Arya in Clash of Kings.
