Josh Weintraub This is a place where people are going to post there thoughts after our discussion about each nights reading.

Michaelfischgrund There are many ways an author can give a tour about the story world. One way is to include flashbacks which educates the reader of what happened in the passed. Another way is describing what a person values like, food, drinks, shelter and allies. The last way is for the author to describe the tone of the story so the reader knows what characters feel like.

Michaelfischgrund The author chose to write this book in first person. Rick Yancey did the because the character telling the story has lots of knowledge of what happened in the past. Another reason why is because there are not many characters and there is only one opinion for the book (so far).

Edwin.Florez The writer establishes sadness in the scene where Cassie the main character explains how her mom died. The writer establishes the mood by describing the thoughts of the character. For example, Cassie described how she felt sad and lonely at the same time when her mom died. A writer chooses a particular mood for a scene because then you can figure out how the character feels in that particular scene.

Josh Weintraub The writer establishes the tone of sadness and depression in the scene where Cassie's mother died. The writer used other speaker like Cassie's little brother. In the gas station scene, the writer establishes a tone which makes the reader know how important that moment was.

Michaelfischgrund Alien invasions determine that it is fiction and because it takes place in the future the book has some science in it. The characters personalities are real and the fact that there are not a lot of people left in the world makes this fictionalized. The aliens and their abilities are the main factor of why this book is science fiction.

Edwin.Florez One part of the Fifth Wave that is ambiguous is the amount of people in the world. Ever since the aliens have attacked earth many people have died. While Cassie the main character is still alive. Rick Yancey uses her by making her question about how many people are left in the world. Sometimes she even thinks that she is the last person on earth. Rick Yancey did this to make the reader think about how much the world has changed and how much the population changed.

Edwin.Florez In the story world of The Fifth Wave society has broken down. Ever since the aliens attacked earth everything has changed. There are fires everywhere and dead bodies all over the ground. In the story world there are still trees, mountains, and rivers, but lots of cities are broken or destroyed. Some places are safe like military bases, but the people still can't trust each other.

Michaelfischgrund Cassie was choosing weather to go to Cincinnati or not. She went. Her consequence was aliens shooting on people. Later in the book we can predict that if aliens ever attack she would have to choices. Running away or fighting the alien. She would fight.

Josh Weintraub One thing that is mundane is that people miss there families. People are dying everyday and the contributes to people missing there families are affecting everyone. It helps us understand that how much the aliens have affected the world and how much they have changed the people in the world.

Edwin.Florez One action that is possible in The Fifth Wave is that kids are able to carry a gun. This is possible in the story because aliens invaded earth. Since people can't tell if someone is an alien or not they carry guns for protection. Another action that is possible is that you could walk to a city and see a ton of dead bodies and get shot at by an alien drone. The setting drives this action by having aliens. Since the aliens have advanced technology they were able to send drones all over the world to kill any survivors that were left.

Michaelfischgrund We believe that the theme/author's message of the book is that you have to go through problems and obstacles in order to succeed.
