Addy | 5121 comments I didn't really understand that one. Did you?

message 52: by Kenneth (new)

Kenneth McKinley | 1719 comments Mod
No, I thought it was crap too. The good news is that the rest of the stories after that one are pretty good.

message 53: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments I didn't really understand it either, Addy. (view spoiler)

message 54: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments I agree Terry. I wonder how some of these stories made it into this book. Pavlov seems ok. I just started it. Hope you're right Ken. I almost want to give it up.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Yea I stopped reading a few of the story's but decided to finish just because I hate leaving books unread, but I don't know the intro made it seem so much better than it actually was I like the idea of the book & everybody's own opinion on the dead, but some people's ideas are just dumb lol

message 56: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments So has everybody finished? I need to get on the ball!

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Lol no I haven't finished yet I have a few stories to finish about 6 or 7

message 58: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments I haven't finished. I've just started on Like Pavlov's Dogs this morning. Not far in yet.

Is it me or did I miss the memo that not only did the authors have to write stories about the continuation of life after Night of the Living Dead, but they also get bonus points if their stories has a scene where a phallus gets ripped off??

message 60: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments Yeah...lol. That's the best part! I wud say that wouldn't I?.....;)

Evil Addy. Just evil!

message 62: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments (Big grin) lol

message 63: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments Finished Like Pavlov's Dog. A good one finally, although I'm not exactly clear on what the title had to do with the storyline. (view spoiler)

message 64: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments Pavlov was ok. I didn't get the jo-jo part. Was it him who was thinking in italics? Anyway, better than the last few.

message 65: by Terry (last edited Feb 15, 2016 10:59AM) (new)

Terry | 5385 comments Yeah, I thought that's what those parts were. (view spoiler) I did at least think it was better.

message 66: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments Didn't so much enjoy Saxophone, though. (view spoiler)

message 67: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments omg! Saxophone is like pulling teeth for me. Just tell me what happens so I don't have to read it.

message 68: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments You're right - not good! It was so directionless. If you read my spoiler, that is about as much as I caught from the story.

message 69: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments Ok. I'll take a look at it.

message 70: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments Thanks Terry. Didn't want to finish that garbage...lol. Ok. I didn't mean that. But seriously? I'm kinda disappointed in this book. Lansdale is known for his good writing so I'm crossing my fingers it's good.

Lansdale's is the best one in the book. It literally made me laugh and snort my drink out my nose in parts. Schow's did too. Those were my favorite stories.

message 72: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments I agree Addy! Some have been about as bad as I've read. I'm hoping you're right, Ken. I'm also counting on McCammon's story redeeming the book some, too.

message 73: by Kenneth (new)

Kenneth McKinley | 1719 comments Mod
McCammon's wasn't bad. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars, but I liked Lansdale's and Schow's best.

message 74: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments Cool. I know Lansdale did that to me when I read the Drive-In so that's a plus! And McCammon hasn't disappointed either.

message 75: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments Sounds good. Did you read the second Book of the Dead, Ken?

I haven't. I see that it has Dan Simmons and Douglas Winter in it.

message 77: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments Kinda funny(view spoiler)

message 78: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments Lol - I know! (view spoiler)

message 79: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments Have u read Hodge's story yet? I think I'll read that one after. I've got a couple of his books but haven't read them yet.

message 80: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments I finished Lansdale's story this morning, and I'm about mid-way through Hodges story now. I'm thinking of trying to finish the last couple of these and be done with the book by tomorrow.

message 81: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments Yeah. I think I'll do the same.

message 82: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments So I thought Lansdale story was pretty awesome. Dead Giveaway wasn't too bad either. It definitely had a twist with the show biz aspect.

message 83: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments I agree. Liked both of those. Thought the game show was a funny idea (picturing a bunch of dead people sitting around watching their television sets, cheering it on...) I did finish the other two stories, too. Fatboy's story was just so-so, but McCammon's was better.

message 84: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments Didn't enjoy wormboy's story so much. All of the gross out descriptions felt like he was trying too hard. Eat Me was prob one of my favorites. Maybe because you can find love in hell...lol, just a play on words. But really, it was kinda poetic and sad. Overall, some of the stories were good but more than most left a "dead" taste in my mouth. Don't think I want to continue reading the sequel, but then again I don't even have it. If u do read it, Terry, you will have to recommend it if it's any good.

message 85: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5385 comments Loved your description- "dead" taste in your mouth is the perfect way to describe it! I remember you saying that zombie stories were not really your favorite, but I'm glad you stuck it out. Not sure I would have finished it on my own, and it would have been a shame to miss McCammon's story. The idea that zombies would get ecstasy from eating each other is pretty funny, and poetic at the same time! We'll see if I ever get around to the sequel - zombie stories are ok every once in a while, though.

message 86: by Terry (last edited Feb 19, 2016 10:23PM) (new)

Terry | 5385 comments Just so you know too, Addy, Childmare is supposed to be here by Mar 2nd - taking a while to get here...

message 87: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5121 comments Yes, zombies aren't my thing but I'm glad I gave it a chance. Prob wouldn't have finished either so I'm glad that u were kinda pushing me along. Zombies in small doses:)

I might start a thread for Childmare. Just let me know when it gets to you. I know mine took forever. I've got plenty to read anyway:)
