I would disagree that "Columbine" should be removed from our reading list because just because it is on the list, does not mean you are required to read it. Also, students should embrace the fact that school shootings do happen, and that this is a subject we as a nation have to learn from, rather than shying away from.
I would disagree that "Columbine" be taken off the reading list because I have personally read the book and even though it does have dark subject matter, it is real life scenarios. Mass shootings are happening all over America they should be known of and not shied away from. Also, there are many choices on the outside reading list and people can choose their own book based on preference.
I would also disagree that "Columbine" be removed from the reading list because if you pick the book out in the first place you should at least know what it is about. If you don't think that you can handle reading about it just from the description or any prior knowledge, than you shouldn't read it and get "traumatized" in the first place. Also the book is a well written informative book that deserves to be read. I think it deserves its place on the Honors reading list and should not be moved.
