Kevin (spiralcity) | 4 comments I'm surprised Mr.Lansdale has not been mentioned on this forum.

My introduction to Joe Lansdale was a book entitled "The Bottoms". I was blown away and have been a fan of this author from that point on.

Lansdale has a gritty, funny, action packed series featuring Hap & Leonard. The first book in the series is "Savage Season"
Savage Season (Hap and Leonard, #1) by Joe R. Lansdale

Here's a link to the series.

This series will be launched for television on the Sundance Network starting March 2nd I do believe.

This is a series well worth looking into if you enjoy, gritty, action packed books with plenty of humor.

Maureen Carden | 125 comments I am hoping to catch up with this series on Sundance. The books are great, but I am now ANXIOUSLY awaiting the next one.

The Bottoms was the first Lansdale book I ever read. Ever since then I've wondered why he is not showered with awards.

Brandon | 4 comments I discovered Mr. Lansdale a couple of years ago. The first book I read by him was Savage Season. I liked it, but it took the second book, Mucho Mojo to really get me hooked. I’m not sure why... but I am 6 books in now I think. I love the writing for the most part. Lansdale has a unique voice and there is a great sense of place with these novels. He also creates some quirky interesting characters. The thing that keeps me coming back is the relationship between the main characters though. I’d recommend this series to anyone.
