-Quyburn said Jaime’s arm was no longer in danger, so that’s good news. Bolton sent Qyburn with him, plus 200 and a man named Steelshanks Walton who led them. I forgot Qyburn was hoping Tywin would get him his chain back. I know Tywin is powerful, but I wonder what this man knows he thinks Tywin has power over the Citadel.
-Bolton gave Jaime all the things a knight would carry, I guess to make it less of an impact when his family sees him, although what he carried gave no hint as who he was. Walton didn’t want to follow the kingsroad, but Jaime did; he wanted to see Cersei and maybe make it to the weeding. What would Cersei have done with 200 more men? And northmen besides.
-Jaime remembers how after he said the words Aerys sent him to King’s Landing, because he didn’t want Jaime to joust. It is sad though, how Aerys chose Jaime just to take Tywin’s heir, instead of how well he fought.
-When Jaime dreamed he had his hand, and felt his fingers when he woke up. It’s pretty common to people who lost an extremity, and it must be awful. I forgot Qyburn sent Pia (poor girl by the way, she’s a whore now basically) to Jaime the night before, and she said he pictured him sometimes when she was with other men, wtf. You may think whatever about Jaime, but he’s faithful, and sent away Pia. He doesn’t know, but Cersei is not as faithful. It was interesting how Qyburn said she was healthy because he checked, Bolton made him do so often because once he “loved unwisely”. I don’t know what he meant by that, but I have the idea it would be quite a story.
-Brienne’s father offered 300 dragons for her, but Vargo thinks is not enough, so they decided to keep her. Jaime thinks she’s strong and would survive a few rapes, but worries about her, and wonders why he cares. Well, he’s not the asshole he used to be! I don’t remember if Tywin got the letter Vargo sent, and Jaime recalls what happened with Lord Tarbeck, when Tytos was alive. He was always cruel it seems.
-They went through a burned village, when once a man was proud Jaime was in his inn, and Jaime thinks he wouldn’t be so proud when he killed the king. It makes me mad how nobody knows! Jaime has quite an interesting dream, he started in Casterly Rock, naked and alone, with his hand back. Some men made him go down the stairs to a cavern. Cersei was there with the only torch in the room, and his father and Joffrey were there as well. She said that was his darkness, and left. Brienne is there now, in fetters, and Jaime cuts them with the sword his father gave him. Both of their swords were afire, and Cersei said the flames will burn as long as he Jaime lives. Jaime once more asked her to stay, but she went. Brienne saw two riders coming, making no sound at all, like Ned didn’t when he saw Aerys dead. More men were coming, armored in snow, and five were Jaime’s brothers of the kingsguard. Rhaegar was there as well. They start telling how he said the words and killed Aerys, Rhaegar said he left his wife and kids there. Jaime said Aerys meant to burn the city, and how he didn’t know Tywin would hurt Rhaegar’s family, and his sword burned less bright as the time passed. Brienne’s sword was still afire, which I read somewhere meant she defended him for the shadows. Jaime is not as soulless as I thought back in the first book.
-Jaime woke up with tears in his eyes, and apparently he screamed, because Qyburn and Walton were there, asking what happened. Jaime said he forgot something in Harrenhal and they had to go back. At first Walton didn’t want to, but Jaime offered gold, and he agreed. He did know his type like he though in the beginning of the chapter. Jaime also said he might tell his father Walton cut his hand, so that helped too. Really interesting Jaime was sleeping on a white stump when he dreamt.
-In Harrenhal they let them pass, and Walton said he didn’t want problems, but Jaime reminded him they had 2 to 1 against the Mummers. Jaime realized Brienne was in the fucking bear pit, and when they go there, he saw she was just with the pink dress, but they gave her a sword, at least. I loved when Walton said Jaime to leave her, she was their wench now, but he replied her name was Brienne. The Mummers were way too busy at first to notice them, they are awful! Jaime calls out Vargo and tells him to let her go. Fucking Vargo gave her a tourney sword, so there was no way she made it out alive from there. Jaime said he’ll pay for Brienne, and the goat told him to go and get her. I loved Jaime so much at this point, he went into that pit with no chance of defend himself. Although he did a little with sand and what was left of the face of some poor dude, Walton’s bowmen saved them by killing the bear. Brienne was still a maiden, I guess they though seeing her fighting a bear would be funnier than rape her. Jaime said he’ll pay ransom for both, and Rorge said they should kill them. But Vargo thought a little and decided to let them go.
-Walton was mad at Jaime of course, Bolton would skin him if he didn’t deliver Jaime. And even though Jaime said he counted on Walton saving him, I don’t think he did at all. He just went for it, without thinking. Brienne thanked him, but of course wonders why he came back for her. Jaime thought of a bunch of cruel things to say, but he replied he dreamed about her. Great progress Jaime!
