I am not sure what everyone else is doing so do advise me if I'm wrong but my vague intention was to read The Lost One first, so that I am doing them in chronological order. (The publishers put it at the back of the new combined WOTSI/TLO edition rather than the front, which seems a pity in some ways but I'm just glad they included it at all!)
I found both as a reader and a writer that it is VERY difficult to pin down TLO chronologically, even once you have Small Isles to help. We don't even have Perdita's age to go on, but she's pretty young in Small Isles so must be even younger in this...
Annabel, that is odd. I havent downloaded the kindle yet, but I am about to. Squee! I would think shes about 20? I think i read that somewhere. And im pretty sure shes 25 in wind. Jelly! You have a hard copy of both! Lucky you!
Oh no! I hve just looked and WotSI is no longer available to me in kindle...which you guys have said, has the TLO in it. I can buy it on audible to listen to, but I’m so disappointed.
Teaqueen! Thank you for sharing that link. So nice, loved seeing those photos. I signed up for the email updates. Looks like Perdita is 23 in Wind.

I’m going to buy it myself, since I’m pretty much a Mary Stewart completist, at least for her romantic suspense work.
You’re welcome! I’m going to add a discussion thread for “The Lost One” since it looks like at least a few of us are reading it.
Ooh — I just bought the Kindle version of WotSI so I could read “The Lost One,” and WotSI has chapters with quotes from “The Eve of St. Agnes” by Keats as the chapter headings. I always love Mary Stewart’s use of literary quotes to start the chapters. It’s a nice addition.
I'd love to read The Lost One, too, Tadiana. Is there anyplace you know of where it's available without Wind off the Small Isles, since I already have it?
Good review on Wind off the Small Isles. Like the author said I am slowing way down on this book and enjoying it more.https://romanticarmchairtraveller.typ...

I just checked to see if I could lend you my Kindle copy, but it’s not lending-enabled. :(

I have the book on iBooks and this is the link that appeared when I tried to share it. Unsure if it just goes to a place for you to buy the book or if it’s the actual text but it’s worth a try:

Oh. I just clicked on the link you shared to go to the site about the book, Teaqueen. I’m on my phone. Looks awesome. I’m gonna pop up my computer soon and read. Thanks for sharing that
Since this book is so short I will share my thoughts when I'm finished. But I'm around half way & enjoying so far!
Finished Wind off Small Isles today. I think this is my third or fourth read and it only gets better each time. This time I read very slowly enjoying every wonderful sentence and all the imagery of Mary Stewart’s amazing writing. I think it also helped that it was my travel book this week. I read it on a train, curled up in a window sill in a hotel in San Francisco and finished it off while having a pedicure! The book was well traveled!
There is a lovely article with fabulous pictures about Lanzarote in the NYtimes today. Hope the link workshttps://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/24/tr...
