C. | 64 comments I can't wait until next Sunday when The X-Files series returns to TV!

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) | 74 comments we are excited at my house too. started watching the old X files with the boys to get them excited too!

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2717 comments I'm excited, too, but I'll probably binge it later and not watch it while it's on.

Kateb | 959 comments I'm half and half, what if it isn't as good? What if it spoils the old series?

message 5: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina Flynn I'm super excited!

message 6: by Jason (new)

Jason Braida | 32 comments Happy to see that the new series is being filmed back in the Greater Vancouver area. I think the series lost something when it made the move south to LA.

message 7: by Heather (new)

Heather (bruyere) I'm super excited. It wasn't really wrapped up well in the series finale season so I demand answers! I own all the DVDs of the seasons but I don't think I'll be crazy enough to try to watch them all. Perhaps the last season, though!

Craig Andrews (goodreadscomcraig_andrews) | 5 comments I'm definitely excited, but I have to admit, I was a little young when the original X-Files was on the air and I've had a hard time getting into the early seasons as an adult. From what I've heard though, it should be accessible for someone like me who remembers pieces of the series, and has seen both movies. It's just nice to have some good genre shows back on TV!

E.J. Wenstrom | 5 comments Me! Hubs and and I are marathoning our way through the old seasons in prep :)

John Mills (johnrobertmills) | 18 comments Very excited. So great to revisit.

message 12: by Jo Ann (new)

Jo Ann | 7 comments I loved the original series, but when Molder and Scully were replaced by those "other" FBI agents I stopped watching. Curious if the new show will pick up from the old series or will it be a whole new set-up?

message 13: by V.W. (new)

V.W. Singer | 371 comments Didn't like the original series so I doubt I'll bother with this one.

The series was all a big tease, and the big "truths" were never found and never had any wide scale effects.

message 14: by Laurie (new)

Laurie Woodward (artaniawriter) | 32 comments I am! I always loved the interplay between Mulder and Sculley, the voice of reason and logic vs. the creative. It was fun to hear them argue back and forth. It will be interesting to see if they can find new subjects to explore. How many different ways can an alien species manifest itself on Earth?

message 15: by C. (new)

C. | 64 comments Mulder and Sculley had such great chemistry together, hope they still have it.

message 16: by Susan (new)

Susan L. (susanlwillshire) | 1 comments Looking forward to it. I heard there will be a genetic bent to the storyline, and that if audience response is positive, they are seriously considering doing more.

Cool!

Esther (eshchory) | 555 comments I watched the first film yesterday as 'prep'.
I loved the old series and the interplay between Scully and Muldar I will be interested in their chemistry now they are older especially as David Duchovny has had an OK acting career but Gillian Anderson is one of the best actresses out there today, IMHO, especially on the small screen and in costume dramas.

message 19: by Heather (new)

Heather (bruyere) I was very happy with the first episode. It feels rushed but they only have six episodes so it is understandable.

message 20: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (abinersmoothie) | 2 comments It's terrible. Almost entirely Duchovny's fault.

Esther (eshchory) | 555 comments I have now watched most of the episodes and would happily watch them again.
There was a good mixture of the silly and the serious like in the old series and I thought the chemistry between Scully and Muldar was fantastic. IT seemed so true to life for two people who have known each other all their lives. Scully is more confident and is well aware of Muldar's foibles but still loves him for it. While Mulder is less of a believer but still has that boyish wonder and relies on Scully as one of the only people he really trusts.

My daughter OTH, who has never seen the original series, looked once and gave up "I just don't get it!"

message 22: by Carol (new)

Carol Tensen It's not the original series, but it far exceeded my expectations.

I really enjoyed the humor in the Weremonster episode. I finally got around to watching Kolchak, the Night Stalker, and this episode not only borrowed Darrin McGavin's wardrobe, it got the flavor of the 70s series.

Kateb | 959 comments I have the whole collection of the original x files and movies, and was disappointed with this lot. oh I have watched them but not going to buy and put with the collection

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2717 comments We started watching this this week, and I've really been enjoying it.

The first ep was a bit too crammed with stuff, but I figure they have a lot to cover, and it caught some people up to speed.

I *loved* the were-monster episode. It was hysterical!

Two more eps to go, but I've been really enjoying it. Of course, I was happy as soon as the opening credits started and I saw they kept the original credits! *nostalgic bliss!*

I was asking hubby how he was liking it, since he never watched the original series - at least not regularly - and he says he's been enjoying it and hasn't had any trouble following it or anything.
