No, this book can take awhile. Especially the first time around. Just relax and enjoy it.

If you're enjoying the book, then no. It's a long one. If you're not enjoying the book, put it down and walk away and find something else. The rest of the series is longer.
It took me a long time, I had to put it up at one point and read a couple of other books, but by the time I got to the end I couldn't wait to start book 2. Book 4 took me the longest nearly 6 months with breaks. I'm used to whizzing through books so this is new to me. got 2 library books to read, then will start 5 got it on the kindle to see if that makes it easier.
Bear in mind that the whole story unfolds over almost 12000 pages. While each book has its own story, you are really only reading the exposition of a larger story. It will take time for the action to ramp up. The book series is long and meant to take a long time to read.
Continue if you are enjoying it and don't think too much about how long it takes to read.

You gotta stick with a book. If you really don't want it to last too long, read more often. Otherwise, keep on going. This is how people become good readers

I once started Madame Bovary - couldn't get into it - put it down, but went back to it months later - and I loved it!
