Perry Morris | 6 comments Hi all,

I was wondering what character or race trait has stuck in your minds over the years. One of my favorites traits is found in the Kinder race created by Weis and Hickman in the Dragon Lance series.

When one Kinder meets another they have a customary greeting by saying: "What's in your pockets?" They then proceed to empty their pockets and show each other with great excitement.

I'd love to hear what traits or characteristics were memorable to others in the group.

Zippergirl Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut:

Boko-maru is a rite in which Bokononists lie on their backs and touch the soles of their feet together. Why? The Bokononists "believe that it is impossible to be sole-to-sole with another person without loving the person, provided the feet of both persons are clean and nicely tended"

Jessica (JeSsIcA-write-a-lot) | 1 comments The fae in my Mythic Chronicles series use flowers and colors to express emotions, well wishes, and even threats. For example, giving another fae morning glories is a visible sign of your impending courtship, but oleanders are considered a direct threat or challenge.

Jeana Budnick | 9 comments In the Obsidian Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey the Elves never ask direct questions. It's considered to be extremely rude. I had great respect for the author that she managed to write dialogue for the Elves in such an elegant manner.
