I think this sums it up best so I am just going to quote it. Taken from the back of the book. "A searing true tale of extraordinary darkness told with intensity and vigilance, GIVE ME MY FATHER'S BODY is Kenn Harper's absorbing intricately documented account of ruthless imperialism in the name of science, of cruel deceptions and false burials, and of the short, strange, and tragic life of the boy known as the New York Eskimo." Minik was an Inuk brought as a child in 1897 from Greenland to New York with his father and others by the explorer Robert Peary, this is his story as well as the people who exploited him and his people.
It is a dry read and a lot to take in but overall a good book with lots of interesting history.
Finished The Profession of Violence: The Rise and Fall of the Kray Twins and went to check out The Cult of Violence: The Untold Story of the Krays - but it is available for in library use only. However i got Three Boys Missing: The Tragedy That Exposed the Pedophilia Underworld from Motor City Books (thanks for the rec Eileen). It's a hardbound autographed copy and i got it for $4. Already read a third of it but i have to get back to my library book The Girl in Alfred Hitchcock's Shower

Ok I will send it to you. I need your address. Please send private message.
I really like the sound of Three Boys Missing: The Tragedy That Exposed the Pedophilia UnderworldI might have to seek out a copy
Currently reading Behind The Words: A Logical and Satirical Guide to the Impossible Defense of Jodi Arias by Kim Anne WhittemoreI am upset by the author's nasty comments about people like Jodi's mother. An example would be when she calls Jodi's mother "homely". Absolutely no need of that. It's mean and it adds nothing to the narrative.
The only reason why I am continuing to read the book is because I never followed the trial and since then I have read the "Jodi" books and her pathology fascinates me. The book follows the trial from start to finish. There is a second volume too.
I went on Amazon to read the reviews and many reviewers mention these "snarky" comments so I isn't just me that is disturbed by them. The book is loaded with "snark".

I was put off a bit by the reception it received from the website dedicated to the Yorkshire Ripper crimes at http://www.execulink.com/~kbrannen/ot...

I'm a little ways into Tooth & Nail: The Story of the Rabbit in Australia by Brian Coman. It's a rather queasy mix of interesting and boring.

Taken from back of the book."On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man on a segregated but, sparking the Montgomery, Alabama, bus boycott. " This story and many other of Rosa Parks defiance are in this eye opening book. Some of these stories I have heard and others I have not. This book's target group is older children and young adult.
Currently reading The Midnight Assassin: Panic, Scandal, and the Hunt for America's First Serial Killer by Skip Hollandsworth. Really good!
Finished The Midnight Assassin and now reading The Jigsaw Man by Paul Britton. Another great book! So far so good.Paul Britton is a British forensic psychologist. He has been involved in some high profile cases.
I just started reading The Road Out Of Hell by Anthony Flacco with Jerry Clark. Wow....I just read the first page and I am hooked! I was surprised it happened in Canada.I'm already worried about trying to post my review. DANG>

Rita, my suggestion is that you write your review on a Word document first. Copy the finished, SAVED review onto the review page for that book. If it doesn't stick you can always just copy and paste again until it does.

I guess the picture of the book won't be on there but now I don't care. I just want to get my review posted. Thanks so much Fishface....I hope I don't screw up. lol

I started to read The Road Out Of Hell by Anthony Flacco.I haven't gotten very far into the book but this story is worthy of the title. The human mind can be brilliant when it comes to surviving and when someone evil has you in their sight it is a living nightmare!

The title is above what I posted Belleza and you probably have read it. It's The Road Out Of Hell.

All confusion aside, Bella, that book is fantastic. And by "that book" I mean The Road Out of Hell: Sanford Clark and the True Story of the Wineville Murders.

Ew, Ew, Ew: Real Stories of a Small Town ER by Kerry Hamm3 stars
If you work in the health care field I dont think anything in this book will surprise you. People are weird! If you dont work in health care this book is a good look at what an ER nurse puts up with every day. There are some funny moments here. This is an e-book short. You can read in a few hours.
Currently reading I Survived Ted Bundy: The Attack, Escape & PTSD That Changed My Life by Rhonda Stapley. So far....
Very well written. I am only 1/4 of the way through it but I would say I believe her account and she really was a victim of Bundy. If you look on Amazon or whatever, you will notice some people just jumped all over the book before even reading it and said it couldn't be true. Some people are so protective of the Bundy story, you would think it was canon scripture. Kind of weird actually.
Shelley wrote: "Currently reading I Survived Ted Bundy: The Attack, Escape & PTSD That Changed My Life by Rhonda Stapley. So far....

People forget that guys like Ted NEVER stop looking for victims. And many more get away than we might suspect.
It does seem illogical to believe that only one (Carol Daronch) escaped Bundy's clutches. He was a very busy beaver. I am sure there were others. And it doesn't seem strange to me that she didn't come forward until recently. I understand that. Especially back in the 1970's.
I just started reading Trout by Jeff Kunerth. It is a chilling reality that this attitude and behaviour is becoming more common then not. How sad.

The authors found 22 additional murders and attempted murders that were almost certainly committed by the same guy. In a decade with computerized records they would have connected them up easily, but as things stood...
"Fishface wrote: "Have you read Yorkshire Ripper: The Secret Murders? ..."No, I hadn't heard of it. I looked it up. It was released just last year. It looks very interesting. It's been put on the TBR manifesto. Thanks!
Has anyone here read Savage Grace by Natalie Robins and Steven M. L. Aronson? I am debating about reading this one or Pointing From The Grave by Samantha Weinberg? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.....
I greatly enjoyed Pointing From The Grave: A True Story of Murder and DNA -- it was a very satisfying cold-case solution. I have not read the other one.
Finished The Girl in Alfred Hitchcock's Shower last night, then started Invisible Chains: Shawn Hornbeck and the Kidnapping Case that Shook the Nation and finished it just now. I'm home sick from work.
Rita, I tried to read "Savage Grace", but couldn't finish it, which is very rare for me.
It was a series of interviews and letters and not really written as a story. It was extremely hard to follow. There are some really good reviews out there for this one, but it seemed so disjointed to me...I would love to find another book about this family as it sounds very intriguing. But I couldn't recommend this book.
I started reading The Girl In Alfred Hitchcock's Shower by Robert Graysmith. I have had this book for months and now I wonder why I didn't read it earlier. So far it is very interesting.

Dixie, I am so glad you posted your thoughts on this book Savage Grace because I looked through it myself and saw these interviews and letters and that turned me off. This is why I was wondering if another author wrote about the same people. Dixie, what is Invisible Chains about? Thanks so much Dixie. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I hope its about the same family. lol
The only "Invisible Chains" book I'm familiar with was about the kidnapping of Shawn Hornbeck, which definitely wasn't about the Baekeland family. I've never heard of another book about that family other than "Savage Grace", unfortunately, but would sure like to know if there is one!
Actually Invisible Chains: Canada's Underground World of Human Trafficking and Invisible Chains: Shawn Hornbeck and the Kidnapping Case that Shook the Nation and Invisible Chains
