message 2: by Margret (new)

Margret Very good. Slow for the first half getting to know the characters for sure but the plot is/ will be in my opinion quite complex. At first I thought that Geder would be just another irritating character, but after he burned Vanai... Wow! I thought his story turned into the most interesting. I would have liked to have had chapters written for Master Kit, since he was one of the most interesting parts of Cithrin's chapters.. But time will tell

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 70 comments I liked Master Kit and I get a feeling that in the next book we are going to see many more chapters with him as the lead character. Especially since we learned at the end that he was the Apostate. I think both he and Dawson are the most interesting characters in the book. I love Dawson's scheming and manuvering. I think I'm almost shocked that the king doesn't realize what an asset he is to him. I don't know what I think about Geder. At the beginning of the story he was a bit of a dork and a patsy. At the end of the story, he was more devious.

I read this a few months ago and thought that all the characters were great...mostly because they are so flawed!

Vera M. | 37 comments Liked it. Characters were great and interesting. There wasn't very much action, but some real intense parts. The scheming all the characters did gave me some whoa moments.
I found Geder interesting, but still feel him to be a pawn, that believes he is something greater, in a game he doesn't understand.
Cithrin seems to be a child trying to play at grownup and comes off as a brat to me.
Dawson sticks to his beliefs in the hierarchy or society and tries to save his friend (the King) from everyone, including the King himself. His wife was awesome, making her own maneuvers with what she thinks is right in support of her family.
Marcus is that was a champion, but lost everything and fell into despair.
The ending, oh I must read on!
