Heather | 8548 comments I found this wonderful link that has the meanings of different signs and symbols in art. It seems to be a great reference to anyone wanting to understand more of the meaning of a particular piece or era.

Ann Watkins (topaintwithwords) | 6 comments I love both art history and etymology - I have bookmarked this link and when I have the time (yeah, right) I will be returning to it. You can never have enough knowledge of "finer things".

Heather | 8548 comments It is worth the read, Ann. I'm glad you bookmarked it and hope you find time to look it over and you may even learn some things you didn't know before!

I took an etymology class in high school and found it fascinating! And while studying in Europe for a humanities class in college, we had to memorize the symbols included in Renaissance paintings plus the signs and symbols of the patron saints. It was a bit difficult! But I loved the class, great experience!
