Claire No,
first, its a book about a relationship - and relationships are human.

Romance isn't for girls, in straight couples its happening between two people of the opposite sex. If your a straight girl you can't have romance without a guy being involved and partaking in the romance.

Men have relationships too, men also find new relationships exciting, and have crushes, and strong feelings, and want to spend time with the person they like.

not only that, the book is written by a man, who - before this - only wrote from a teenage boy perspective, yet still explored relationships and crushes, and love.

Boys have these experiences too. They have relationships, they get cancer, they loose people they care about.

This isn't a 'girl' book. Its just a book about people.

Actually women just have a more easily triggered tear production system. Women crying actually doesn't say anything about emotion.
They don't need to be as emotional before they can cry.

Annika Tanner It is perfectly acceptable for guys to read romance novels. In fact, if you have a girlfriend who loves romance novels, you guys can hug it out and fangirl (fanboy?) about the book!

AmyLouAldaMay There should be no shame in reading anything a person wants to read. Shaming someone for their preferred reading genre is a form of censorship, and once you get on that road, it's a damn slippery slope.

The truth is, though, that even I am sometimes "ashamed" to admit that I read romance novels. (Not to even mention erotica! *Oh the shame!*)

First of all, because I'm an English major. I am a professional student of literature, and how quickly everyone stashes "romance" into the category of "trash," yet some of our most beloved and classic pieces of writing are "romance" novels. (Fitzgerald, Austen, the Bronte sisters...)

Second, because I'm a thirty-some-old, housewife and mother. (Can anyone say "stereotype?")

But then I remind myself that whatever, and however I feed my brain is my business, and mine alone. Each story I read (romance or otherwise) teaches me something - even if it's the filthiest, shittiest piece of writing, and ultimately, anything that broadens our sense of culture, society, and humanhood, or educates ourselves about ourselves, or about the people next to us is a good thing. And there is no shame in that.

I agree. 'Cause, love and romance is very much realistic in our practical world i think. so, who thinks that he/she need not have romance or love in the life, surely he/ she is not so practical. Though i had the opposite concept about this idea, but now my life experienced much, that reading romance novel and being fallen in love, there is no shame eventually.

Panda Dani I don't think it's weird, it may be weird if that was ALL they were interested in. I mean NEVER read any other books. Like fantasy, historical, etc.

Tori No, it's most defiantly not weird for guy to read romance. I think its awesome when I see a guy reading that genre.

Not at all. You are a person, not just a 'guy' - you have feelings just the same as anyone else, boy or girl. I'm sick of the world comparing us like we're two separate 'things' entirely; we are all human.

Taitlyn Wells No, I think that it is awesome if guys read romance novels.
