Emma I don't know if this has been discussed before (it probably has and this might be old news to some of you).

But what we know are Robb's last words are, "Mother, Grey Wind..."

What was Robb going to say about Grey Wind? That he was right? Or is it because he was about to warg into him? We already believe all the Stark kids are wargs, but we don't get a chapter from Robb's point of view, so we don't know... I personally would love to believe Robb is still alive in Grey Wind.

Caroline That's unlikely, given the fact that Grey Wind's head was sown onto Robb's dead body. I think he wanted Catelyn to release Grey Wind, who was tied up outside, and escape. It's an interesting suggestion that he wanted to warg into Grey Wind after the wolf was released, but we'll never know since both were killed.

Laura Herzlos Exactly, even if he did, he still died inside Grey Wind later.

Fox D'aoust Robb doesn't have the same ability as Bran does. He would not have been able to change into Grey Wind, They both perished.

dsreads Well it's said many times that all of the Stark children had a special, even supernatural bond with their wolves. But in Robb's case, I'm not sure it matters. Robb certainly isn't "still alive" in Grey Wind ;)

(RIP)

Emma What about before they both died?

dsreads There's something special to the fact that he's the only one we don't get a POV for (besides rickon... just wait though ;)... Makes me think he's more of a foil for the rest of Starks.

I think it would go against the tone of the Stark family to bring him back. Just my opinion. Plus the fact that Jon and Bran, the most powerful wargs, have still only hinted at their abilities. Doubtful Robb was that good at it.

Laura Herzlos It's very possible that he did, or that at least he started having the "wolf dreams" like Bran, Jon, or Arya.

In any case, none of the Starks had reached the point where they could *easily* warg in and out like Sevenskins used to do (and it wasn't that easy for Sevenskins either), especially during the Red Wedding, with arrows flying and no possibility of focusing or anything.

Also, Bran is the only one who got to warg into anything other than his own direwolf, and there is a reason for that. The Starks are supposed to be connected to their direwolves, not simply warg into anything, that is the point of the 6 pups for the 6 children. Bran is an outlier.

Even if Robb had gotten some hint of how to get into Grey Wind somehow, he was most likely not in the position to do anything else than experiencing another death right away. I understand some fans would love to have some sort of hope that he's there somewhere... but I really don't think so.
