Excellent story Jim. I knew Tallis would come through on the scuttlebutt.
I was a bit worried there was too much background to scuttlebutt
Well there was a fair bit of background all right, but it didn't bother me.
Well I tried to keep it as seen through the eyes of Tallis
Told as he is sitting in a comfortable chair with a bottle of good wine and a circle of admiring listeners.
is there another way to tell a story? :-)

I struggle to picture Tallis roasting hotdogs on a campfire, even though I'm sure he has done his share of that. This is slightly more him, but still not right...

yes I've hopefully fixed it. I was trying to be too clever, using a dropped Cap for the first letter and it came out a right bog

Yes I went back and manually deleted a lot of stuff that had been duplicatedteach me to be too clever for my own good!

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but your first paragraph is effed up again!
because the dropped cap was sort of important in the story, I thought I'd make a special effort and try and get it in, but it just screws things up in so many different ways you wouldn't believe!
Never drop your cap, specially where the cows have been...
I probably would have been more comfortable in a sedan chair yesterday rather than a full Service Longus flight (that's what automeddle made out of Aer Lingus).
Might even have been faster if you'd tipped your chairmen :-)
Can they swim though?
