I'll start out the introductions, just in case any new and interested folks show up.

I'm El around here (short for Elicia - I answer to both) on Goodreads. I'm a big fan of our book club and we're always looking for interesting peeps to join us. I'm a 30-something living in the Regent Square area with my boyfriend and two dogs (one of which thinks he's a cat). My day job sadly has nothing to do with reading or writing, though those are my real passions. By day I sit at a desk doing administrative things for a hospital system which shall remain nameless. Knowing I have books to turn to at home is what gets me through the day.

Feel free to share a bit about yourselves if you'd like, but no pressure. :)

Information about the book club is on the main page near the banner. If anyone has any other questions for us, please do not hesitate to ask!

Andrea Ketzel Hello,
Is this book club still active? If so, I would really like to join. :-)

Hi, Andrea. We sure are still active! We don't do a whole lot on this page - it's more to just draw attention from other local readers. Physically we meet once a month at Biddle's Escape Coffee Shop. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, August 31st at 7:00 pm where we will be discussing Daniel Woodrell's Winter's Bone.

We would love for you to join us if you are able to get your hands on a copy to read before that. Or if you can't read it in time, but still want to get an idea of what we're like as a book club, you can come by and just sit and listen if you'd like. We're a decent group of people, I think. :)

Andrea Ketzel Thanks, El! I requested a copy at the library, so I will definitely do my best to read it and make it to meeting.

Thanks again for getting back to me. I'm looking forward to it. :-)

Andrea

Nivedita | 2 comments Hi folks! I'm Niv, new to Regent Square and in love already. I'm also a 30 something who lives here with my husband, my dog and my fish. I'm excited to meet you guys on Wednesday, if my day job at said nameless hospital system (lookin at you, Elicia) gets me out on time. Also please don't judge my reading ability from his account - had to start a new one because I got locked out of the one I've had for years! Happy Friday and happy reading!

Hi Nivedita! Sorry for the late response - I was tying up some work stuff (feel your pain!!).

Welcome to Regent Square! I'm so glad to hear you like it. It really is a nice neighborhood. Look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

No worries! We're in this group for the long haul, so anytime you can make it, we'd be happy to have you. :)

Nice and great photo of the two of you!

Geoff Peck Hello all,

I'm new to Goodreads and loved the sound of this group. Another thirty something invested in books and bookish things, though lacking a puppy profile picture. Even so, do you have room for one more? Is there a set time you meet?

Best,
Geoff

Hi Geoff!

Puppy profile picture lacking, you are still very welcome to join us! Our next meeting is this Wednesday, 1/25, from 7:00 pm until whenever we finish (though usually by 9:00 pm since I think that's what time Biddle's closes).

You're welcome to come by and join us, even if you haven't read or finished our current read (The Underground Railroad); but if you have read it we look forward to hearing your thoughts!

We generally try to sit wherever it's quietest at Biddle's, and that can vary depending on other events. So if you don't see a few people downstairs with a copy of the book in front of them, definitely check for us upstairs too.

Hope to see you Wednesday!

El.

Hello, Geoff
Yes, there's always room for one more. We are laid back, and our range in books is wide, we talk about books and lot of other things but mostly books. I have gotten gotten to know some great people through our book club, and we read books by authors I love and as well as discover books by authors that would of remained hidden to me ,if not for the book club. It's something I believe we all look forward to each month, hope you can make it.

Geoff Peck Wonderful. I look forward to meeting everyone and taking part in the discussion.

Hi Frankie!
We are definitely still in motion and always have room for more! Our next meeting will be March 29th (7:00-9:00 pm) at Biddle's Escape Coffee Shop in the Regent Square neighborhood. We'll be reading Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls. If you want to just come to check us out without committing to the read this month, you're welcome to do that as well. :)

message 18: by Rayroy (new)

Rayroy (lomaxlespark) | 6 comments Welcome , we always have room for one more and read a wide range of mostly novels, though we have read works of non-fiction.

Frankie Embrescia (fae6) | 2 comments Thanks so much! I will probably wait until I have a whole month to read the new book. How will I know what the new book is?

I'm really excited to start reading with the group :)

We decide the next book at the end of the meeting. I will update the book on this page as soon as possible once we meet. Additionally if you want to be on the email list, you can send me a direct message with your email address and I can add you. :)

I do try to keep this group updated. We don't do a lot of talking here in the group; it's more a place just to add info in case others want to join in.

Look forward to meeting you whenever you join us!
