Hi Hannah!
Hurd is not someone I am familiar with at all. I'll be looking for her when I get around used bookstores now.

message 63: by Marian (new)

Marian We had watched the mini series of this true story and it was fantastic!!I did read a book on Lucreatia Borgias about a couple of years ago, maybe less, but anyway,I did not care for the writing, and there really wasn't much in the book about her. So,sometime,I will get these 2 books...sometime..lol!

message 64: by Skye (new)

Skye | 459 comments I remember that. I remember when you watched the mini series and were shocked by the contents.

message 65: by Marian (new)

Marian Jean Plaidy also has books on the Du Medici family..there's 3 books I believe???We also saw the mini series on this family as well..I wonder what the books are like..:)

message 66: by Skye (new)

Bobbie | 32 comments I read Light on Lucrezia by Jean Plaidy a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I didn't know at the time that there was another book. I would like to get the other one but haven't so far.

Haha- I hope you'll love Legacy Debbie! It's super gothic-y and creepy IMO.

message 70: by Renee (new)

Renee Ross (reneeross) | 84 comments Anybody ever read Bledding Sorrow by Marilyn Harris? I used to get that one mixed up with Legacy because they both had that creepy factor.

debbicat *made of stardust* (cr8zycat) | 150 comments Hannah if you liked it I'm certain I will. Creepy is good. Super creep is better!

message 72: by Marian (new)

Marian If you want creepy, why not read "The Woman In Black"..and the newest movie out of it,is real creepy:)

Without a doubt.
Debbie, have you ever read any Barbara Erskine? Although she tends to butcher the romantic relationship building in her suspense novels IMO, her creep factor building is A+!
Her House of Echoes makes me jump at things that go bump in the night : )

Hi Michelle, I'm the one who's writing a Gothic novel set partly in Romania. Still at the editing stage though, at the moment. Would be happy to let you know when it's finished. You can follow me here on Goodreads or on Twitter @RosettaYorke or FB fb.me/RosettaYorke.UK.Author if you'd like to. I'll follow you back!

Renee Ross (reneeross) | 84 comments Hi Rosetta!

I am also very interested in your book's release. I just visited your Facebook page, and love your beautiful banner. I assume this book is your first? What is your estimate on when the book will be finished? Can you share the book's premise or even its title just to make us gothic lovers even more impatient to read it?

message 82: by Rosetta (new)

Rosetta Yorke (rosettayorke) | 7 comments Hi Renee,
Thanks for your interest. As you'd see, I'm in the process of getting established as an author. My FB page has only existed a few days! Glad you like the banner. Yes, this is my first book. I'm going the Indie Pub route as 'Gothic Romance' is not an accepted genre by traditional publishers! The story doesn't fit well into another category. Consequently, I'm on a steep learning curve re self-publishing. I hope it will be available by the autumn. My working title was 'A Whisper of Snow in the Mountains', but I may need to shorten that to either 'A Whisper of Snow' or 'Whispers of Snow'. Do you have a preference?

message 83: by Rosetta (new)

Rosetta Yorke (rosettayorke) | 7 comments It's great to read all your comments here. Up until now, I've felt like a dodo writing a 'dead' genre - I can't tell you how wonderful it is to discover so many like-minded people chatting about authors I grew up with & love! (Mary Stewart, Joan Aikin, Norah Lofts, D duMaurier, ...actually, it would be a long list if I mentioned them all. Think everything I read in my youth was 'Gothic Romance'!) Am about to wander over to Pinterest to check out your boards.

message 84: by Rosetta (new)

Rosetta Yorke (rosettayorke) | 7 comments And it's even better, now I'm finally reading all your posts in the right order, to discover so many of you are authors too. Love the Pinterest site, Renee! Am now following you.

I like A Whisper of Snow. Do you have a Pinterest page? If you're over there, I hope you will visit my page: Gothic Romance Remembered. I'd love to know what you think. Pinterest is great for writers because you can create storyboards for your novels.

Thanks for the feedback re the title. Yes, I've already been across to Pinterest & am following you, thanks! (You can find me at www.pinterest.com/rosettayorke - though, as with all social media, I'm still finding my feet there. Haven't worked out yet how to comment on anything I save!) Have only had chance to look at a couple of your boards so far - but the ones I've seen correspond so closely to areas I like myself - esp your books (I had a good look at your covers!) 'All things old & beautiful' and 'Bram Stoker'...'Castles'...oh, and 'Dark Shadows'...(As I am in the UK, I only heard of this programme a couple of years ago, not when it was broadcast, but managed to get a dvd of some of the 'vampire' episodes.) I will be back to indulge again soon!

I just scored a copy of Rommany off Thriftbooks! Very excited to read this one at last : )

debbicat *made of stardust* (cr8zycat) | 150 comments Oh I loved Dark Shadows! Watched the series way back and the two movies. I've read a few of the books.

debbicat *made of stardust* (cr8zycat) | 150 comments Never heard of that author Hannah. I'll look for her stuff when next I go to the flea market and the used booksellers.

She's very old school gothic, and one of the better ones out there IMO. Hope you can find one to try Debbicat!
