Happy 2nd full week of January!!

The January poll is up! Take a few seconds to go vote for your favorite part of a new book. It can be found here- https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...

Make sure you also check out Jennifer's great post on how to insert a picture into your post.

What is everyone reading this week? I'm still working on Wendy Darling, Whoniverse, and Mirrored, but I hope to be done with them soon.

Julie | 130 comments I'll probably Finish Manners and Mutiny today.
I'm not positive what I'll start on next for this week.

I am curious though, when is the drawing for the 2015 52 book challenge?

Julie, I apologize for the lack of communication about the drawing. The 2015 drawing happened over the past weekend and the winners were contacted. Again, I'm sorry for the lack of information on it.

I have almost finished The Wicked Will Rise. I'm still working on Yes My Accent is Real, Cracking the Coconut, and I just started Unbelievable book 4 from the Pretty Little Liars Novels. Yesterday morning I finished Perfect - book 3 in the Pretty Little Liars series.

That's okay, last I heard it was going to be announced, and then nothing else was ever said about it here or on the library site or anywhere. So, can we still pick up our participation prize, or did I miss that too?

Lyn | 59 comments when I went to Russell to pick up my participation prize, around the 10 of Dec.I was told they didn't have them yet, check back next week,I kept checking all the way till the 30th and the lady said she was sorry, would I like to pick one from the friends of the library shelf.
I would like to know who won,and if they don't want their name released,at least the library could say this years winner was from___ what ever branch

Dawn Goeb | 3 comments I'm about 300 pages in War and Peace (about a 10th of the way through on the e-book version I have).

I apologize for the issues you have had picking up the participation prize. I was informed by all branches that of the last week of December, they had the books to give out to all participants. I am unsure what happened and I apologize for the inconvenience.

As for those who won, I am waiting on approval from my supervisor to post an announcement. Hopefully soon. :)

You are not too late! Participation prizes can be picked up until January 23rd!

Ingrid Hurst (bookrdr) | 285 comments Well, I came down w/ pneumonia, along w/ my daughter & husband so that has put me behind about a week. No getting to the library or trying an Aidan cookbook yet. I just finished Felicia Day's You're Never Weird on the Internet last night. I really enjoyed her honesty.
I started Gillian Anderson's series. I wasn't expecting much truthfully, but it's been good so far.
No progress on Horns on my CD since I have' been driving anywhere w/ this illness.

I am sorry that you have had issues picking up your prize at the Russell Memorial Library. Unfortunately, Russell Memorial Library did not receive book participation prizes until the week of December 30th. Library customers were allowed to choose an item from the Friends of the Library Book Sale shelf for their prize if the other books were not available.

If you have not chosen your participation prize yet, please stop by the information desk at the Russell Memorial Library. Participation prizes will be available until January 23rd.

I've read most of her Parasol Protectorate books and thought they were very good, and I read Etiquette & Espionage, and enjoyed it. Maybe I'll reread those and finish the series when I am through with my Monk book binge.

I hope you're feeling better. Let us know what you think of Gillian Anderson's book when you finish, I was thinking of checking that out from the library.

Ann (ann-fracturedfiction) | 516 comments I finished Dark Assassin, and have read Execution Dock, Acceptable Loss, A Sunless Sea, and am now reading Blind Justice (only 2 more to go). I might binge read this weekend, although with the news that Alan Rickman passed away, I might have to do a Harry Potter movie marathon.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are sick! I hope you and your family feel better soon.

The official start date for the 2016 52 Book Pick Up is next Saturday, January 23rd, which is also the Time to Read event. The page for logging in your books should be up that day. :)

message 18: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 54 comments I'm still reading Christmas Carol Murder & The Good Neighbor. I put those aside to read Cross Justice by James Patterson. I must admit it was the best Alex Cross book I've read in a long time.

Ingrid Hurst (bookrdr) | 285 comments The Gillian Anderson books were really good. I wasn't expecting a lot, but I really got into them. So I read too but the third one does not come out until September or later of this year.
Almost finished with Horns. One disc left. That one was good if you like the Stephen King type of writing. There were some surprises at the end. It's not going to be for everyone, but growing up on Stephen King, I enjoyed his son's book.

I didn't realize King's son wrote Horns! Hm. Now I might have to read it. :)

Ingrid Hurst (bookrdr) | 285 comments It won't be for everyone, because there are parts that are...I don't know the right word to use....offensive isn't really the right word.
I liked the unraveling of the tale & everyone's life & perspective.
