Books read:
1. The Blind Assassin; 4 stars.
Overall, I liked this book. I thought it was very imaginative and I enjoyed the perspective of an aging woman looking back over the years.
2. Go Set a Watchman: 3 stars.
An interesting historical read. I really enjoyed the flashbacks and glimpses of Scout growing up. It seemed like the book was sewn together, though, which made it less enjoyable to read. To me, it showed the potential for a great book while not being great book, in itself.
3. The Ocean at the End of the Lane: 4 stars.
I listened to book and just fell in love with Neil Gaiman's voice. He is a great story teller and this book is a pretty good story. It definitely a story for young people with a fairy tale feeling to it. It was probably a 3 star read, in all reality.. and a 4 star listen.
4. The Likeness: 3 stars.
It's interesting, I'm reviewing these a while after I've read them and I'm finding that I'm lowering star ratings as I do. This one was a 4, initially, that I've turned into a 3 star. It was a good book. I liked the setting with the house of friends who were tight knit and just a bit off. I downgraded it from 4 stars because, in recollection, the book was just a bit too long and a bit too much.
5. Beautiful Ruins: 5 stars.
Another amazing audiobook. The vocalist was incredible and I loved everything about the story; the setting, the characters, the plot. It was beautiful and sweeping and just perfect.
