All right, I finally finished it! It took a while to be sure, but it was just life getting in the way; I enjoyed every moment, even the boring parts. Melville really was a masterful writer.

I will say, though, that I think this might be the greatest book I've ever read. Not necessarily my favorite (although it might be that too), and I won't re-read it once a year like I do with my pet books, but it was a fantastic read.
