David | 10 comments In 2015, I read 35 books for that challenge, so I'm going for 30 this year due to work and family commitments. Really enjoyed the challenge and diversity of books I read last year. I really missed reading over the past 15 years. Looking forward to 2016.

I live near Goderich, ON to so I'm going try reading on the beach in the evening and enjoy the lake and sunsets, too.

Winter (winter9) | 5003 comments Good luck with your challenge David! No beaches or sunsets here right now, but snow and cold. It's nice inside though :)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Sounds like a great plan, especially the reading outside. It's just finally starting to get cool enough outside in South Florida to enjoy reading out of air conditioning, so I'm hoping to do some of that too. Good luck with your challenge!

Thanks Megan. Sometimes I wish it was warm all year round to enjoy the summer activities. Right now there's nothing but cold, snow and ice on the lake. It's very quiet right now.

I know what you mean with snow and cold. At least there's the fireplace and the dog. The sun's staying up longer and the sunsets are coming back. Just too much ice at the shoreline.

David | 10 comments On to book 6 for the year. Currently reading the Xeelee Sequence series.

I've read the series Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe and now on book 4 of the Xeelee Sequence. Reading "series" books lately and enjoying the story continuations and links. It all started with the Uplift Series by Brin last year.

Cassandra | 5832 comments Are you enjoying the Xeelee sequence? I've been unsure about whether I want to read Coalescent for a while.

message 10: by David (new)

David | 10 comments I'm really enjoying the books. A good balance between the technology and human side of the stories and characters. I'm reading Ring right now. Along way to go before I get to Coalescent. I think you should continue with the series. I'd be interested how the Destiny's Children thread ties in with the rest of the series. Looking forward to getting there.

Cassandra | 5832 comments Ah, I'm glad I talked to you! For some reason, I thought that the Destiny's Children series was the beginning of the Xelee sequence, but now I see that Raft is the first book. I hate reading a book and figuring out that it's part of a larger universe. I'll add Raft to my to-read list. :)

David | 10 comments Hate it, too, when you find that out. I started the Uplift Series in the middle and felt I had to start at the beginning and read the whole series to get a better picture of whats going on and glad I did. I really enjoyed Timelike Infinity and Flux. Enjoy the series.

I just finished Ring and was a great finish to the Xelee Sequence. The strength of the characters and the storyline tying everything in to some degree was enjoyable. The science was especially interesting and thought provoking. Reading the series is well worth it if you liked any of his work
