SOLVED. Book called "Japan," [s]

So in this case I do remember the title of the book--it's Japan. But since that's a one-word title, I can't find it because I don't remember the author's name.

I think the cover was green, maybe with a picture of a traditional Japanese building on it. The author's name is male and the first name was something fairly common. I would estimate the publishing date to be maybe the 80s at the earliest, early 2000s at the latest.
