Hunchback Jack | 545 comments Thank you, Simon. I do like Dickens, so it sounds like ADttMoT will appeal.

And oh my gosh, thanks to Downpour, Tantor, Simon and Julie for the competition! I can't believe I won, and can't wait to choose a title. :)

Kdbrand | 13 comments Ditto. Thanks to Downpour, Tantor, Simon and Julie for the competition. Such a pleasant surprise, since I hardly ever win anything. Decided to choose something different, Scaramouche. Can't wait!

Jeanie | 4024 comments Simon,

Apparently you are one of the coolest people in the world! I talked to Violet and she received your autographed picture! I asked if she had sent you a reply and she said she was too shy... but then she said she has better manners than that and sent you a thank-you. I'm sure her reply didn't convey the overwhelming happiness she expressed to me though. She said it was a Happy New Year, Happy Valentine's Day, and Happy Birthday all rolled into one... and then some! She not only put it on her phone as her wallpaper but also her brand new laptop computer. She called me back twice just to tell me how happy it made her to get your picture!

She says you look like the kind of English professor whose class she would have taken and sat there just gazing ... and gotten home only to realize she hadn't remembered a word!

If I needed any points with Violet, that photo just put her in debt to me for life! Thanks for being as nice as you sound.

Jeanie

Aurelia Scott | -3 comments Yes, I know I'm late on this - although is it ever too late to talk about dishy Simon Vance? When we interviewed him for AudioFile Mag, he told us that Winnie-the-Pooh got him going as a (child) narrator. Really. And lots more besides. http://www.audiofilemagazine.com/narrators/simon-vance/

AudioFile Mag | 2248 comments I know that I'm late to this - although is it ever too late for the great and dishy Simon Vance? He is one of AudioFile Magazine's Golden Voices. And by the way, he started as a (child) narrator with Winnie-the-Pooh. Really. http://www.audiofilemagazine.com/narr...

Jeanie | 4024 comments Hey Simon,

Congratulations on winning our EAR award in the Histry/Biography category! We luv ya, Simon! Of course, it took a great performance to be nominated, so your talent got you the recognition from the Audie nominating committee... but we GR audio lovers know a good thingwhen we hear it!

Madge UK (madgeuk) I am new to this GR group but am just popping in to say that I was absolutely enthralled by Simon Vance's reading of Wolf Hall and Bring up the Bodies, so much so that I listened 24 hours non stop! I do hope you will be reading Mantel's sequel to these great historical novels.

I will now look for more of your readings, perhaps a Dickens...

This is Aurelia for AudioFile Magazine, Madge. What a great comment about Simon V's skills. Your ears must have been numb, but so happy! If you're looking for Dickens, Simon received an Earphones Award for his reading of Oliver Twist. Here's the review and an audio clip: http://www.audiofilemagazine.com/revi....
