Introduction

My name is Laura:)
I currently live in the states.
I'm so happy to be able to be apart of such an amazing group of readers.
I am a huge fan of Emma and her work. Her UN speech made it very clear to me that I was indeed a feminist. She made everything crystal clear.
I am also an avid reader and love to learn about complex topics! I'm in the middle of school right now so I don't have much time to introduce my self very thoroughly.
I'm an artist as well as musician, I play piano and guitar.
I hope this was interesting! Thank you all for reading!

My name is Stacey and I'm from South Carolina, US. I love to read, and had always wanted to join a book club. I won't say I was a feminist per say, but I am all for equality. I do whatever I can to give a voice to man, woman, and child! Oh, and I love Emma Watson, and how she's a living Hermione Granger!

My name is Simon Kuhn,
I am a 16 years old boy and I live in Belgium, that one small country in Europe :)
After I read some tweets of Emma about her project I was hyped immediately and as soon as
I could, I joined this book club. A lot of kids in my school still think it's weird for a boy to have interesses in feminism and I always need to explain that it's not very different from equality,
I actually think that when I'm telling them about everything what's great about it they fall asleep or they are not listening anymore... that's a bit of a shame in my opinion, because what's cooler than feminism right?
By joining this club, I hoped to get some information from other users about their experience with feminism and books about equality/feminism.
I'm about to end this post, it's my first one and I don't really know what to write here and I'm also kinda out inspiration but I just want to point out something:
Emma, you're awesome! I'm probably not the only one, but the effort you put into this stuff is amazing.
You're such a lovely woman and everbody should appreciate your work!
Thank you, and thank you all the other users for the nice welcome post!
-Simon

I agree with the person above (Crystal) about the history of feminism. It's an incredibly fascinating topic and one that I would love to learn/read more about. I'm already a member of a book club and it's been wonderful. Joining a second one that is started by Emma Watson, includes feminism and Goodreads? Sign me up!!

My name is Haley Jones and I am from Kansas City, MO. I am joining this book club as means to find myself. I believe there is no better lens into our own minds/values/feelings than through the lens of a book.
As a three-time sexual assault survivor, advocacy of women's rights and sexual assault awareness are the intrinsic motivators within my life.
I am looking forward to the books and discussions to come!

I'm Martina, I'm a 17 years old from Argentina. I joined this group because aside from my love for reading, I also love expanding my knowledge while discuss new ideas and topics with people.
I came up with the conclusion that I was a feminist when I turned 15 and started to experience gender inequality myself, at first they were small and insignificant things, things that sadly are very common now days. But as time passed I noticed that one small thing leads to another one, and then another one, and so on, until it's huge and can't stop it. When I finally understood that it was up to me to change these things, at least in my small community, I started to educate myself as much as I could, and I still am, so joining this book club will hopefully help me reach that point where I have both the conviction and the knowledge to help others suffering the same injustices and educate those around me.
I really hope this becomes a place where we can learn and help eachother become better feminists and have a good time while doing it.
Thank you so much for your time, lots of love

My name is Keisha. I live in Washington state (USA).
I joined because I want to learn more and get my hands on every piece of information available. I have 3 daughters and want them to be involved and understand what is going on in the world and how they can make a difference.
I also admire Emma. She has set a standard that I think most of us would love to achieve. Thank you for that Emma! You truly are an inspiration to so many of us.
Happy reading!

My name is Megan, I am 18 year old and I live in England.
I joined this group because I feel passionately that the world should be equal and I love Emma and her approach to promoting equality.
I am also a complete bookworm so this to me is great... I think it's going to be fascinating to hear about other people's opinions and ideas about the books we will read together and also learning through literature and discovering new authors.
I agree with Simon just above me: I would just like to say thank you to Emma for what she does for the people of the world and for being the brilliant woman she is and giving everyone a voice that we can learn from, unite behind and support :)
Megan x
Hi everyone! :)
My name is Ivona, I am 22 and I am from Belgrade, Serbia. I study psychology. Last year I took a course on gender studies and I loved it.
Like most of you, I am also huge fan of Emma and her work. When I was a little girl, Hermione was my role model and I am really happy to see Emma is as well great inspiration for all of us.
I joined this club for many reasons. I do consider myself feminist, but I want to learn more. I am also looking forward to improve my English language communication skills.

I'm a feminist because I want my sisters who are in different life circumstances than me to enjoy the same freedoms I do -- and that men do! I hope to expose my children to more female and feminist authors (regardless of gender identity.)
I listen on Audible (poor eyesight makes reading hard) and stopped (re)listening to Harry Potter to start On the Road. :-)

I'm Angela, from Greece. I joined this group both because I love reading and because I'm a feminist (obviously

I love to read. I am always reading (much to the annoyance of my friends and family). I am constantly looking for new books to read and when I found out that Emma was starting a bookclub I was very excited to see all the amazing books we would be reading.
Emma is an inspiration to people around the world for the work she does with the UN and starting this bookclub is a great way for everyone to learn, discuss, and understand what is going on in the world.
I am looking forward to reading and discussing with all of you. I hope you have a wonderful 2016.

My name is Tayná and I'm from Porto Alegre, Brazil.
I'm a huge reading fan, and I wanna know more about feminism, so I think this group will help me a lot =)

Since I can remember I've loved reading and listening to stories. I admire you, Emma, for what you do to make a difference. Therefore, joining this club was only logical.
As some of you have already said, I never saw myself as a feminist either. However, while working and living in different countries I have found myself having to explain and defend myself not only as a woman because I was treated as less, but also as a person. Every single person should be excepted the way they are and treated equally, no matter what.

My name is Priyanka, I'm 25 years old and from Florida. I joined this book club because I've been inspired by Emma Watson, she's done so much for the face of feminism. Of course, I love reading and being able to discuss what I've read with a group :)
Can't wait to start!

I am eighteen years old and I hope to persuade all to treat women just the same as yourself because it's a pity that there are in this century still differences between men and woman and this is BARBARIC.
Also I want to learn more about feminism and want to help as good as I can.

Wow, so many diverse backgrounds and so many interesting people already! This is going to be awesome :)
I'm Deepthy, 26 years old from India. I joined this group because I love read..."
Hi Deepthy! I love traveling as well, and actually just came back from India. It's definitely interesting to see different perspectives on gender equality throughout the world. I hope we can all, on some level, make a difference.

I'm a bookworm, a feminist, and love reading and discussing literature with others. My own reading experience and knowledge of feminist and LGBT literature has been a lot smaller than I would like (as my major requires a significant amount of reading in another area), so I joined this book club to give me the extra push to read the selected texts and see what others thought about the readings. Really excited to see so many people that are eager and excited to take part in this!

It is so nice to be here. My name is Jess, I am a 24 year old Masters student from Canada who has been looking for a good reading group of strong, feminist women for a long time! This landed on my lap (on facebook!) this morning, and as I enter into my final term of my studies (before a potential phd!) I am hoping to be reading at least one text for myself a month, and what better way than to join a book club! I deal directly with performance of disability and feminism on the stage in Canada, and have a background in literature. Currently writing a play with strong women and lit influences, so this is great for me!
Cannot wait to spend time talking over these strong words together!
xx Jess

I joined this book club because I am an avid reader and a feminist/humanist. Women in literature hold a great position of interest in my life and I'm very excited to see what recommended titles others have to share!

I joined this book club for many reasons. First, I'm a feminist who loves books. So this is just perfect :)
Second, I come from an area of the United States where feminism is looked upon quite harshly. Of course, I have many friends who are feminists, my husband and I are proud feminists, but the overall tone in my area is that it's a bad thing to be. I hope that I will meet others here who share my views and push me to expand my knowledge. I want to hear about others' experiences with feminism and what it means to them. I am especially excited to add to my growing feminist library and read some new material from authors I haven't discovered yet.
And of course, it's a book club by Emma Watson. What's not to love?!

I've been a reader and a feminist by nature since I can remember, and more recently a big fan of how the internet can bring people together.
Emma you are such an inspiring leader! Delighted to be a part of this.

I'm Angela, from Greece. I joined this group both because I love reading and because I'm a feminist (obviously"
Hi Angela! Pleasure to meet you!

I'm Valencia Walker
Im 25 years old from Michigan , I am a college student working on my Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration , I ll be graduating this August.
I'm a Emma Fan , I've watched man films she had been included. I thought joining this Book Club would be a fantastic experience. I've always wanted to join a Book Club .

I joined the book club because I consider myself a feminist, and I want to delve deeper into the subject. I want to educate myself better, so I can hopeful one day be able to educate others when the opportunity comes up. And I'm always looking for new reads anyway, and I've never joined a book club before! I figured this was a great place to start!

As a reader, I've always loved Harry Potter and I really like Emma as an actress. However, when I got to know all her work for the UN, I started loving her as a person, a worker and, of course, a feminist.
I read quite a lot, but this year I have to study a lot and I don't know if I'll have time to keep up with this reading club. Anyway, I'll love to try as much as I can and learn new things from all of you.

My name is Alessa, I'm 17 years old and from Austria.
I joined this book club because reading is the best thing in the world, I love discussing and I am a feminist. Also equality has always been and will always be very important to me. And of course, I am a huge fan of Emma and her work on UN.
I'm looking forward to a great time here and I hope we will have a lot of interesting discussions together! :)

My name is Kiona, im from the USA.
I'm joining because I've wanted to join a group for a long while. And a feminist book club seems perfect, ir will also help push my usual book boundaries.

My name is Alexia, I'm 16 years old and from Mexico. I've always loved to read, as I think that books, no matter their genre, can always teach you something, whether it is about human feelings, morals, or perhaps other more light-hearted things. However, lately I have been considering to get into more varied genres, as I've noticed my genre diversity is somewhat small. So when yesterday I read about this new book club, I felt very excited!
I feel specially happy that the focus of this club will be feminism because, even as I have tried to educate myself as much as I can with research, I haven't read books on the topic, and it would be great to also know authors' experiences on feminism, and further immerse myself on the topic, while being able to exchange ideas with so many people interested on it.
I'm very proud of Emma for starting this, motivating her followers and even more people to actively participate on getting more informed about feminism. I look forward to this!

-Kelly

My name is Petra. I'm from Croatia and I'm 17 years old.
I joined this book club because I'm all for girls rooting for eachother and books of course. I wanted to learn more about feminism and I want to read more quality books so this book club is perfect excuse for that.
I'm looking forward to some good books and interesting discussions.

My name is Laura Torres and I'm from Texas. I joined this book club because I'm a huge fan of Emma. Not only for her work on Harry Potter but also because of her humanitarian efforts on behalf of women!
I also hope to expand my knowledge in regards to feminism and other gender equality issues. I've also always wanted to join an online community of some sort and a book club so this is the perfect mesh of both!
I'm currently re-reading the Harry Potter series (my New Year's resolution) and also "Gang Leader for a Day".
I look forward to more shared conversations with you all.

My name is Lissette Mehl, my Artistic name is Lee Mehl, i am 43 years old.I was born in Venezuela but I live in Berlin, Germany.
Im very thrilled to be here with you.
I decided to join, because ive become a Feminist author myself:
at the age of 30, i clinically died Thron a brain stroke, spent 20 days in an induced coma and was paralized in my left body part on a wheelchair.i saw death with my own eyes, but i also saw life with my own eyes:
i stood up against doctors, psycologists and therapists and decided to live a second time with the resources the universe had given me:
my power of life throu humour (southamerican), my disciplin (german).
This two powers helped me overcome most obstacles and i stood up again.
This story I have published in the USA, "the two worlds of Lee Mehl", but i wish to share it with the whole world.
I am also interested in reading other Feminist storries

Hello Ms. Crystal! You live in the big city! I live in Texas in a town about an hour away from Austin. I just graduated from college and although I never actually took any women's studies courses, it was still a topic touched on in many of my Communication and Mexican-American Studies courses.
I've never read Bell Hooks but it sounds like I should! The most recent book I've read in relation to Women's Studies is "The Bell Jar". Have you read that book? :)

My name is Ashley, I'm 25, and I'm from Michigan!
I joined this group because Emma Watson is my feminist role model, and because I'm hoping book club will get me to read books that I wouldn't have considered before!
As for Laura's post above me (provided I submit this before anyone else comments), I think rereading HP is an excellent New Year's resolution!
My New Year's resolution was to be active in more community theatre, as that's what makes me truly happy, so I'm not sure I'll be very active, but I'll read all the books!

I look forward to learning more about the members of this club and I hope we have some fantastic conversations!

I joined this group as I want to read more this year, and interested in the #heforshe movement, so this group is perfect for both.
I've downloaded the first book to read on my iPad later tonight!
Lovely to meet you all, and great to see people from all over the world.

I'm Julie from the Chicago Suburbs. I joined because of the international buzz this group is getting and my curiosity is getting the best of me! I love to read and hope to participate in at least one selection every few months.
Check out my book blog at JulzReads.wordpress.com

My name is Melissa. I'm a 26-year-old from LA, and I recently graduated with an MA in Professional Writing. I want to join, because finding a new book to read is hard! There are too many and there is too little time. So, a book club is a good kick in the butt to start somewhere, and a feminist book club is even better. Looking forward to discussions!
Best,
Mel

I am Héloïse from La Réunion (France) but living in Canada. I am a huge fan of Emma since the first Harry Potter and then for her amazing work in the UN. She has taught me how to progress into being a feminist (as I have always been but didn't really know where to go and what to do with it). Emma's ideas and openmindedness has helped me a lot find myself.
Moreover, I have always liked to read so this would be an incredible apportunity, meeting all of you and discussing interesting and powerful books.
Thank you Emma for giving us this opporunity !
Héloïse.
