Hello, all! My name is Stefanie Zimmerman, and I am a high school English teacher in Jacksonville, Florida. I am joining this club for multiple reasons. I think Emma Watson (#QueenEmma) is a wonderful role model for women and girls. She is strong and well educated, and she demonstrates that there is more to being a woman than just her outer appearance. I am also joining this book club because reading is a strong passion of mine, and I want to be able to discuss the literature with people from different cultures who have different experiences from myself. My name is Simon Kuhn,
I am a 16 years old boy and I live in Belgium, that one small country in Europe :)
After I read some tweets of Emma about her project I was hyped immediately and as soon as
I could, I joined this book club. A lot of kids in my school still think it's weird for a boy to have interesses in feminism and I always need to explain that it's not very different from equality,
I actually think that when I'm telling them about everything what's great about it they fall asleep or they are not listening anymore... that's a bit of a shame in my opinion, because what's cooler than feminism right?

By joining this club, I hoped to get some information from other users about their experience with feminism and books about equality/feminism.

I'm about to end this post, it's my first one and I don't really know what to write here and I'm also kinda out inspiration but I just want to point out something:
Emma, you're awesome! I'm probably not the only one, but the effort you put into this stuff is amazing.
You're such a lovely woman and everbody should appreciate your work!

Hello everyone, it's lovely to meet you all, I already notice so many diverse backgrounds and so many interesting people, this is going to be something very educational and overall enjoyable.

I'm Martina, I'm a 17 years old from Argentina. I joined this group because aside from my love for reading, I also love expanding my knowledge while discuss new ideas and topics with people.

I came up with the conclusion that I was a feminist when I turned 15 and started to experience gender inequality myself, at first they were small and insignificant things, things that sadly are very common now days. But as time passed I noticed that one small thing leads to another one, and then another one, and so on, until it's huge and can't stop it. When I finally understood that it was up to me to change these things, at least in my small community, I started to educate myself as much as I could, and I still am, so joining this book club will hopefully help me reach that point where I have both the conviction and the knowledge to help others suffering the same injustices and educate those around me.

I really hope this becomes a place where we can learn and help eachother become better feminists and have a good time while doing it.

However, lately I have been considering to get into more varied genres, as I've noticed my genre diversity is somewhat small. So when yesterday I read about this new book club, I felt very excited!

I feel specially happy that the focus of this club will be feminism because, even as I have tried to educate myself as much as I can with research, I haven't read books on the topic, and it would be great to also know authors' experiences on feminism, and further immerse myself on the topic, while being able to exchange ideas with so many people interested on it.

Hello Ms. Crystal! You live in the big city! I live in Texas in a town about an hour away from Austin. I just graduated from college and although I never actually took any women's studies courses, it was still a topic touched on in many of my Communication and Mexican-American Studies courses.

I've never read Bell Hooks but it sounds like I should! The most recent book I've read in relation to Women's Studies is "The Bell Jar". Have you read that book? :)
