Kobo was a Borders product, when Borders was still around. Oh wow thank you, I didn't know, I'm trying it now, I'm so relived that I don't have to buy all the books I have again :) Hopefully they all work.

In order to sideload your books you need to download them from the Kobo website to your computer. If the books have DRM, which probably most of them do, you will need to get the program Adobe Digital Editions.
Once you have it, and your books downloaded, sideloading using ADE is pretty simple.
