Courtney Rae (courtneyraeedits) | 2 comments Hello folks!

I'm a twenty-four-year-old recent graduate looking to begin her editing career. But don't click back! I do have experience (fiction and non-fiction), and I'm almost done with UC Berkeley Extension's Professional Sequence in Editing.

I attained a B.A. in English from UC Berkeley, and while I was there I founded and spent two years working as editor-in-chief for a speculative fiction magazine that discovered, edited, and published short stories digitally and in print. I also worked as an editor on Berkeley's literary review for a year. I recently worked as part of an editorial team for a non-fiction book that will be out in the coming months.

Right now I'm trying to branch out and build a freelance editing career. As a beginning editor I'm not looking to charge much; it's more about getting experience and building relationships and a portfolio than anything else.

So I'm thinking it would be fair to offer a free sample edit of about 5-10 pages (or the first chapter/section, we can discuss it), and if you like what I do, I'll charge around 2-5$/page depending on the level of edit required. This includes two edits; the initial edit and then a review after the author (you) have gone over and accepted/rejected the changes and answered any queries I might have had. Prices are flexible. For an added fee, which we could discuss, I can also format your book for both digital and print publishing.

Let me start my editing career with you! As a new editor, I need to prove myself, and I'll work incredibly hard with you to make sure your baby will become the best book it could possibly be.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Please let me know if you are interested and we can have a chat about it.

Elizabeth Davies | 3 comments Hi Courtney

I am currently 45k words into a (roughly) 80k manuscript and am starting to look for an editor.

My WIP is a paranormal romance, set in medieval Wales on the cusp of the 12th and 13th centuries. Would this be of interest to you? I will need both editing and proofreading on this novel and would love you to do a sample edit.

Elizabeth
