(This is my first time asking a question, so sorry if it's in the wrong spot)
What books would you recommend that are similar to Ballads of Suburbia? I feel like most YA I read is just predictable "girl meets boy, everything is fixed" but Ballads was nothing like that. I enjoyed the dark and realistic tone and how it escalated from loneliness, not fitting in, and family issues into relationships, substance abuse, mental health, and other topics. I particularly enjoyed the friendships between the characters and group dynamic for the ensemble. What else would you recommend that's YA, more on the gritty end, and isn't just about relationships?
