Shana Festa | 3 comments Hey there,

I added my book and applied to be an author as well as librarian earlier this month. I followed the guidelines and have not received any notifications or seen my regular account merged with my new author profile.

My name is listed the same on both profiles. It would be fantastic if someone could help me get this set up.

My name is Shana Festa

Shana, I note that your book has no publisher or publication date listed. Does it have either of those?

Shana Festa | 3 comments Hey Rivka,

I am reticent to post the publisher name until I sign my contract. I am waiting on one more piece of clarification before I sign it. Publication date is set tentatively for June/July, however I wont have an exact date until next month.

I would have waited, but I interpreted the FAQ to mean I was eligible to create the book and that I could edit those details at a later date. If I misinterpreted, I apologize.

I also applied to become a librarian at the same time I created the book.

Librarian status is not generally granted to authors or authors-to-be.

Adding the book was not a problem. However, books that are so tentative that they lack a publication date or publisher are usually not sufficient to obtain Goodreads Author status. One option is to wait until your contract is finalized, and then ask for those pieces to be added to the book record (by posting again in this group), and then re-applying for Goodreads Author status.

Alternately, you'll may wish to use the Contact Us link on the Help page.

Shana Festa | 3 comments Gotcha. First and formost I am a reviewer. I don't know if that matters or not. My reason for requesting librarian status is so I can help authors with their issues. I receive requests on my blog for this a few times a week. Instead of passing them off to someone else, I thought it would be convenient to help as needed.

No worries on the author thing at all. Now my expectations are set and I will reply to this post again once I am comfortable with updating those missing fields.

Could you clarify, are both needed? Would it be acceptable to add publisher and a tentative date, then edit that date with more information? I currently have a tentative date of 7/15/2014.

Added. Yes, if it changes it can be edited.

I am not one of the staff members involved in those decisions, so I am only aware of very general guidelines. For specific questions, the Contact Us link I gave above is the way to go.
