Why Read: I loved the surrealistic cover. The author is an artist. She has a wonderful flair in her drawings.

Comments: Unfortunately, I only liked one poem which I thought The rest should have been published as prose because that's what they were. I was totally unimpressed with this as a poetry anthology. I give her lots of credit for her art, so it's hard to rate.

8)The Lightning Queen by Laura Resau (children's contemporary/historical fiction) Source: Library Started: 12/19 Finished: 12/21

Why Read: The title refers to a gypsy girl who calls herself the Lightning Queen. I really like novels that deal with gypsies and this takes place in Mexico. I've never read about gypsies in Mexico.

Comments: What a beautiful story about a friendship between an Mixtec Indio boy and a gypsy girl. Later in the novel, there's a moving re-unification in the U.S. in the current day. I rated this A.

9)Wolf by Alma Alexander (NA science fiction) Source: Amazon Started: 12/27
Finished: 12/30

Why Read: This the second in a series. Alma Alexander thought I should read this book before reviewing the third book, Shifter. I wasn't sure I wanted to read yet another werewolf novel. The first book in the series, Random, had been so original.

Comments: I'd forgotten that this was my last book of 2015, and it wasn't that long ago. Well, this novel was ostensibly about werewolves, but we only see them in human form. In their human lives, they're scientists which is interesting. So this is science fiction. It's about werewolves doing science experiments. There are some sympathetic characters. I gave it a B+ See my review at http://shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/20...

It would have been nice if my last book of the year had been the best book I read in 2015 which has happened for the last several years. That wasn't the case this year, but you will be seeing a couple of these titles in my top reads post.
