Laura Jane (loopylulaura) | 175 comments Every year I sign up to a load of reading challenges with the aim of reading an unrealistic amount of books, then start off reading quite a lot quite quickly but later in the year forget all about the challenges and manage to read nothing. So this year I'm setting my target small and keeping things really simple by only choosing one challenge:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

4. A Book Recommended by Your Local Librarian or Bookseller
5. A Book You Should Have Read in School: Blood, Bones And Body Bits
6. A Book Chosen For You by Your Spouse, Partner, Sibling, Child, or BFF: The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August - 30th Jan
7. A Book Published Before You Were Born

9. A Book You Previously Abandoned: The Night Circus

Jackie B. - Death by Tsundoku (reiwing2040) | 1343 comments I really like this smaller yearly challenge. It's a great starting place, for sure! I think we're all quite good at overcommitting to reading here... :)

Good luck with your challenge, LJ!

message 4: by Laura Jane (new)

Laura Jane (loopylulaura) | 175 comments Thanks! I figured it would be more of an achievement to set a low target and smash it than aim high and not get close!

Jackie B. - Death by Tsundoku (reiwing2040) | 1343 comments That's what I did last year! I set my sights at low and busted right through. Instead of updating my challenge goal, I just kept it where it was and looked to see how far I could go. It was quite liberating.

Piet (bibli007) | 7 comments Hi Laura, I really like the challenge that you shared a link to. I chose a manageable number this year, also, and hoping too, to exceed my intended total, a little. Even one or two would be something.

Sounds like you're all set for a great year of reading ~ best of luck!

Laura Jane (loopylulaura) | 175 comments I'm not going to officially enter any but because I'm a little too obsessed with challenges to ignore them completely, I've decided to just see how the books I read this year happen to fit into each challenge.

Liene (rasaslase) Such an interesting Challenges. I have few challenges this year too.

Jackie B. - Death by Tsundoku (reiwing2040) | 1343 comments For the Every Year Challenge are you reading books from literally every year? Or, just the years in which you have lived? I'm doing the latter-- but I'm impressed if you're doing the former!

message 10: by Laura Jane (new)

Laura Jane (loopylulaura) | 175 comments Rather than completing the challenge officially, I thought I would just keep track of the years for the books I happen to read this year. I might see if I can fill in the years from when I was born (1987). I would be made up if I could manage to read enough to fill in right back to 1905 but that is very unlikely!

Jackie B. - Death by Tsundoku (reiwing2040) | 1343 comments Hahaha. That's reasonable. I totally get that. It's interesting to see how old some of the books I read are-- I sometimes forget that what I'm reading is super old, and often super progressive for the time in which it was written.
