*Beware - fake Penguin Random House review requests.

Hopefully none of our members here have been caught by this, but online bloggers are reporting that they fell for a scam by a woman "named" Corinne Rosanna Catlin - she emailed them on an official-looking email address and offered Penguin publisher ARCs for books from Penguin Young Readers, as if they came from the publishing house.

It appears this was all a ploy to make bloggers read and review her novel, Spectaccolo by Christine Catlin.

The bloggers report that quite a few people fell for her offer (apparently she sent out a thousand emails) and some provided her with a street address to mail books. They say some of her victims were juveniles.

There is no evidence she intends anything worse than fraud related to her book. But this serves as another reminder to check the bona fides of anyone who asks for personal information from you online.
